Heard a great Santa story today

My friend has a house on a good sized lot right on the edge of town. Behind him is a woods full of game. He got one of those motion activated cameras to get pictures of the game in the area.

Apparently on Christmas Eve someone in a Santa outfit, complete with bag of toys on shoulder, cut actross his back yard to come up on the neighbors back deck to surprise the kids. My friend knew nothing of this. A couple days after Christmas my friends computer savy 6 year old daughter checks the pictures from the game camera and here's SANTA!!! She yells, "WE GOT A PICTURE OF SANTA

WE GOT A PICTURE OF SANTA." I'm thinking; here's a kid who is going to believe in Santa Claus until they're 15.

oh ron what a great story!

eons ago when the kids were small we used to drive around looking at lights. as we were making a turn, here comes a guy dressed and with a bag heading to a home (who must have been having a party) he was so nice when he saw our 4 nearly hanging out the car windows...he waved and wished them merry christmas...

that will be a story your friend will remember forever, and always bring a smile to his a face...

I never thought fish had any "feelings" until I had a pond and saw for myself. It might not be the same way we "feel," but they certainly seem to experience some sort of excitement, and sometimes it really DOES look like they're having fun to me. Sure makes it a lot harder for this old fisherman to go fishing, now (I think I've been ONCE since I put in my bigger pond, and that was just an hour or so off a dock). Thanks for the story, Bonz! Susan- is that the first time they came down your street? If so, no wonder you were alarmed. That's one of my favorite Christmas traditions - our Santa comes down the street on the fire engine on Christmas Eve. You know they're getting close when you can hear the sirens and all the neighbors come out onto the sidewalk and wave to Santa. If there's a group of kids Santa will get off the truck and hand them candy canes. One year they gave out little stuffed animals - my kids were young then and still talk about that. One year my girlfriend's son was a volunteer firefighter and he told her that if it's really cold or rainy that Santa is usually a little drunk by the time he gets back to the station.

Peke unfortunately, yes. the number of record high days are increasing. here's one article. worse, the summers of 2017 and 2018 had terrible wildfire smoke, with air quality worse than Beijing -- each time for about a month. we're being told to expect "wildfire season" more often due to climate change. in spite of all that, I still think Seattle has some of the mildest weather in general. not as hot or as cold as other places, and we don't get a lot of bugs. yes, it rains for about three seasons, but it's usually a sprinkle or mist, not a downpour. also, all that rain brings SO MUCH GREEN. it's beautiful here!

What a neat story, @Jilly! And what a precious find for you. Thanks for sharing. The poster intrigued me as well (first thought was electric cars and oxygen), so I did a bit of Googling and found out his work also inspired musician Jean-Michel Jarre (which YT reminded me of a few days ago when I stumbled on a video about the origins of electro-pop). You might have heard Jarre's Oxygene Pt 4 which was a big hit in the mid-70s. Granger did Jarre's album covers, including the painting that inspired his Equinoxe album. Silkscreen available here (with a cool concert story). Hope you don't mind the musical aside. :) Btw, in one of Granger's interviews from 2012, he says that he shows his paintings to his two sons and if his 8-yr old doesn't understand the message, he's failed.

I hope they have saved or preserved, or what ever you do to those kinds of pictures. That is sure and clear evidence that just like the M&M commercial says, He does exist!

When our kids were little, one Christmas eve we were at Grandma's house (next door) and one of the relatives always played Santa and all the kids knew it was "just pretend."
After the pretend Santa and the evening was winding down, we heard a click, click, click and then a knock on the door and there stood Santa and the "pretend" Santa was out of costume and sitting in his favorite chair. EVERYONE was astonished when this Santa passed out presents to all the kids. It turned out it was the quiet man across the street who rarely spoke to anyone. We all loved the look on the kids faces. We didn't find out it was Mr. C until after Christmas.
