Modernaire Hood PS1010
Comments (3)I'm sure the hood is just fine. The raptures over ModernAire as a brand are for their fancy designs and customization. The works are good too, and MA are known for the continuous switches on the light and fan. "Cast iron cooking" doesn't mean much when you're taking about a hood. There's a formula for estimating how many cubic feet per minute (cfm) you need. For gas the calculation is 1 cfm for every 100 total BTU (British Thermal Unit) of your stove (top heat of all burners added up) and round up to the next amount offered. For induction, check The Induction Site for their formula. You probably need a little less for electric so you can round down from 1 cfm for every 100 BTU. There are some other considerations as well. For instance, if you're unlikely to have all your burners on high all at once, for instance, you'll never boil soup, dumplings and chili while searing fish, you might be able to do with a little less oomph. BUT it'll work better if you run a higher powered fan on a lower setting than a lower powered fan on a higher setting. Also, if you have a high powered gas range especially, but also if your cooking includeds anything which puts out steam, grease (saute, browning, wok, frying, searing), etc., it's recommended that you should have three extra inches on both sides, and in front as well if possible. I think the minimum output available in the hood you're looking at is 600 cfm....See MoreEBM-Pabst Motor in Modernaire Hood ---??
Comments (3)Is that the internal blower? The rep I spoke with yesterday said the external blowers are Abbaka's. I asked about pairing my own Fantech blower (I believe that people here on the forum have done that and saved some $ that way), and he didn't say it was impossible, but he ragged on Fantech a bit. I didn't ask about the internal blowers though....See MoreWolf or Modernaire vent hood over Wolf gas RT?
Comments (0)To go over a Wolf 36 inch open burner gas rangetop, would appreciate having your input whether to get a Wolf or a Modernaire hood and liner/motor. Does either one have a "better" set of motors/baffles? In each case I'm thinking 650 CFM internal. No grill or griddle and any pan searing would be done on one of the two middle burners. Any reason to believe the stainless steel on the Wolf hood would match the RT better than the stainless steel on the Modernaire? Would appreciate any thoughts . . . ....See MoreDoes your Modern-Aire vent hood have removable grease trap
Comments (9)I got the PSL19-234. Here's a photo without the baffles. Dh didn't put any screws through this part. The track that you see there is attached by rivets and came that way. I looked at so many hoods that day that I can't remember if the Modern Aire came with a removable grease trap or if that was another. The next time I have a spare 3 hours, I guess I can drive back there. The good news is that our doors and the hood cover were delivered Friday. Here's the front of the hood cover....See MoreRelated Professionals
