MB Re-do! Pics - Help me to accessorize it?

Hello,

Here is my MB. We just had the floor, backsplash and tub/shower surrounds tiled to replace the builders grade vinyl that we put in when we built. The walls are SW White Raisin. The floor has black granite accent tiles in it. The glass tile accents are a white, tan, beigey mix. What color towels would you use in this room? What about wall art, I'd like to do something in B/W in order to bring in some more black into the room? What about the shower, I'm thinking that I'd like to hang a shower curtain (what color) to hide the ugly shower doors, what do you suggest? Also, I need a window treatment, the honeycomb shades stays for privacy. I need to pull stuff together and I think that something is off in this room.

Elaine, your new bathroom is gorgeous. You did a great job picking out materials.

I love your SW White Raisin. Of all the many, many paint samples I had splotched on my downstairs, it was my favorite. I didn't choose it because we had so much space to paint and such high ceiling, that I thought it might be too bright.

I would just use white towels with your black and white art. With the use of more expensive bathroom materials, lately, I don't think towels have to be used as a decorating statement anymore.

Your window area isn't that large but you could use a valnace if you wanted to soften the top.

I think that maybe renofan used a shower curtain over a shower door but with the rest of your finishes being nickel, I don't know if I'd bother with that. I know you don't like the looks of it (I have one, also), but yours is tucked away nicely.

Parma42 - Thanks! I love the White Raisin too, in fact, we did use it throughout a large portion of our home. It is downstairs in the foyer, living room, family room, upstairs hallway, upstairs landing and master bathroom.

Oh my gosh. . . you guys are great!! Justgottabeme, I've added pictures of the floor and shower walls, but my thinking right now is that the whole shower stall will come down to the studs and be rebuilt so the issue will be to find tiles for the "all new" shower that will work with the existing floor. Love the idea for the trim in the shower. . .I used some Sonoma glass in my kitchen. . .will check out what they might have. And, for you and Les, I will re-think the mirror (loved the link!!)...I just got really excited about getting another electrical outlet, but I suppose I could have them pull something down through the wall on the right or I suppose I could have a new mirror cut with cutouts for the outlet. . .hmmmm). Dianalo, are you saying a 36"x36" single piece of tile for the floor?? And definnitely not a solid countertop!! Les, the colors you recommended are drool worthy and will serve as my springboard!! I will definitely re-think the mirror. Re: the lights, I had "swag" lights in another( 70s) house and had more than one weak-kneed moment banging them into the mirror when I cleaned the mirror (I am a "spatter" in the bathroom). I do love the ones you linked however!! Another "re-think" issue!! Gsciencechick, thanks for the link...I'll check it out. Anne, I think your son was very lucky to be able to re-use his old tile. Unfortunately, I don't think that will be the case with mine. Again, I thank you all so very much for the time you took to think about solutions/ideas and respond. It will probably be at least a month or so before this is all over with, but I WILL provide pictures of the final results!! GWers are the greatest!!

Yeah.. the pic quality isn't the greatest. That "peach" doesn't look peach at all irl. It's raffia cream by Behr and yeah it will be staying. In the last pic.. sorry, it's blurry, but you can see the living room. It is painted Harvest Brown by Behr.

Blues and browns together seem very popular right now. Showcase homes last year in our area had a lot of that color scheme ($500k homes). If you like the thought of an accent wall, how about blue walls with one as accent in brown? I ditto the vote on Nadine's 5th one in her second set of mockups. You could add some blue accessories to the bed....some pillows that had both blue and brown and tan in them. I would never have liked that color combo except that I saw it done somewhere (2 were in bedrooms) in 3 of the 6 homes in our Tour of Homes last year that were just gorgeous. Think how sharp and crisp tan khakis look with a blue button-down shirt.....same with your bedding (the pants) and walls (the shirt). Tabby

LOVE the wall color! I think the stripe or border of frames is a cute idea, but perhaps works better in a hallway or on a longer expanse of walls. I am afraid that it might end up visually chopping up your walls in the kitchen even more. How about just doing a large grouping of them above the desk in that wall space? You could mix in a decorative wall plaque, perhaps a couple of framed postcards or other pieces of art, and get a nice wall-hung swing-arm lamp to use above the desk. Think about adding some cool handles to the desk in the same brushed nickel, or whatever you kitchen cabinets may have, to add some texture and interest. Before you decide on hanging wall art (or the nice clock), I am a little curious about the furniture placement. It feels a bit like one large circle of chairs. Wondering if you might try the two upholstered chairs with their table and a lamp in the bow window area. Swing the couch around to sit more in front of the wall. Move the recliner and its table to the place where the two chairs were, and move the tv more into the corner. A console table and lamp on the wall to the left of the door would be nice, perhaps a mirror above it, and would bring more lighting into the room. I don't think you need drapery on the bow window. But if you want it, I would mount the rod above the window and hang panels on the outside of the space. Down the road you might think about adding trim around the windows to match what you have around the doors. You have the sills already, but especially on those kitchen windows I think it will really finish the look. By the way, no need to put holes in the walls. Get the Command adhesive hooks and hangers at any home center. They work, don't leave marks, and come in weights and styles that work for almost everything.

I'd do really nice fluffy terry cloth and try to find a white shower curtain with the same fabric. The texture softens and looks yummy.

I love the tiles on your bathroom floor and that perfect paint color, SW White Raisin! I also like the top down honeycomb blinds a lot. What a great vanity for storage with all that drawer space. What size are your bathroom tiles that look great in your space? What color is your grout that again is perfect with your tiles? Thanks so much for sharing. I feel the space is perfect just the way it is except I would use white towels and a stainless steel soap dispenser for your hands an maybe a stainless steel tissue holder.

Agreed with bright white fluffy towels.

I'd also find another home for that seahorse and crab. They just don't really fit your gorgeous new bathroom.

For the window, a simple valance would be the way to go - maybe in a nice rich brown that picks up the glass tiles.

Thanks everyone! I like the white terry towels and accessories suggestions, I'll go in that direction.

Lynn2006 - the tile is Monocibec Graal in Arras. It is a stone look porcelain tile. It is 13 x 13, I have the same tile in my kitchen in the 20 x 20 size and we LOVE it!.
The grout is Fawn 156 Polyblend.

Pbisjar - hey what's wrong with my seahorse and crab??? LOL!!! I do plan to move them to my downstairs bath, along with a pretty fish above the toilet that you can't see in these pics.
