I have a very pretty breadbox handmade special for me by a friend, and yet I keep my bread on the countertop and keep cookies or candy in the breadbox. Actually my loaf sits on top of the toaster. Just don't make the mistake I did of putting the loaf on top of the toaster until the toaster has cooled. No way I can get that stuck on plastic off. LOL

The refrigerator dehydrates bread, that's why it gets stale quicker. I just keep mine in a drawer.

I keep mine in a bread loaf sized basket on a shelf on the counter.

You should never keep bread or other baked goods in the fridge - it makes them go stale very quickly.

As others have said, refrigerating bread dries it out.
I slice mine (homemade) and then freeze. I just snap off the slices that I want.

I keep my bread in a wooden breadbox on my counter. It is oak like my cupboards. Sometimes I only keep out 1/2 the loaf and freeze the other half.

I keep the bread in the microwave. It has a good tight seal.

When using the microwave I make sure to leave the bread out on the counter until the microwave is thoroughly cooled down and dry.

I have been buying Dave's Killer Breads and they are so moist that they taste fresh from the refrigerator even after a week or two. We eat so little bread here that I refrigerate all our breads. I find Dave's Killer Breads at Vons.

Counter. Should use the microwave though. Don't know why we need two microwaves, but, apparently we do. Would like the extra space on my counter.

Bread box, and I checked all the reviews on Amazon looking for one that was supposed to have the right amount of circulation vents for best storage of baked goods before I bought it. The good ones aren't cheap.

My kitchen is mostly white, some dark brown and tan, counter top appliances black (coffee maker, toaster, food processor) so I let the bread box be some color - it's red ;)

Kitchen cupboard. It's nice and cool. You're not supposed to put bread in the fridge. While my cupboard is cool, it's not as cold as my fridge.

We keep our bread in the refrigerator tightly sealed it is original wrapper. We've had no problem with it drying out or picking up odors. We can keep a loaf there for over a week without any sign of mold. Left out at room temperature, but in its wrapper, mold can appear within 5 days.

I store my bread in an antique tin breadbox, and keep other loaves in the freezer, never the refrigerator.

Depending on how fast we're using the bread, I'll use the freezer, the fridge or the cool granite counter. I'll do a 7 seconds in the micro to plump it up. When everyone is busy in the summer, it's more likely to go back into the fridge, to keep it from molding.

I keep mine in a collectible tin breadbox and sometimes in the bread drawer of my Seller's cabinet. Never the refrigerator.

In a basket on the counter. I used to keep it in a cabinet, but I needed the space in there. I also have lighting under my cabinets that gets hot. I actually toasted the bottom of the loaf in the cabinet!

If I buy more than one loaf at a time, I keep in the freezer until I am ready to use it. I eat too much bread. I love it.

Freezer. We don't eat a lot of bread.

I bake bread, the extra loaves (I bake 8-12 at a time) go in the freezer, the current loaf is covered on a serving plate on a kitchen shelf. The loaves are small only 9 inches long, not as big as grocery store loaves, so the current loaf is not out long before it is time for the next loaf. (I love bread).
Went to the Dave's Killer Bread site because it was mentioned about, sounds like wonderful bread but they also had some interesting info on Dave.

My breadmaker bread goes into a plastic bag on the counter, but if it's warm, it molds in about 5 days ... but usually little left by then. I've been thinking that I need to store it in a fairly tight container, but one that breathes somewhat more than the plastic bag with only a couple of mini-holes ... maybe punch a few more holes in it.

Baked goods that don't start to grow mold in 48 hours at room temps must have a lot of preservatives in them. (You may only *see* the mold a little later.) A little mold might be good for us, but the preservatives aren't!

Baked goods go into the freezer at my house: Bread, dinner rolls, muffins.

Three weeks ago I did a Costco run for two loaves of their rosemary bread and a dozen giant muffins. Now I need more bread, but have six muffins left in the freezer. (One-third of a muffin is plenty for each of us.) I'd have to be running to the grocery constantly -- and paying more -- if I didn't buy and freeze. IMO the frozen muffins are even better than fresh after 30 sec. in the M/W.

Here is my antique bread box. Bread seems to do fine in it, also store my pasta there.

I keep it in the refrigerator, too. No room in the freezer and if left out in the pantry it's moldy in just a few days, thanks to the humidity (I guess). If it gets stale, it goes in the food processor to make bread crumbs for meat loaf, casserole toppings, etc. Frankly, I never noticed the bread drying out in the refrigerator.

I keep mine in the freezer. When I need some in a hurry, I toast a slice or two... otherwise, just on a plate on the counter it is usable in now time at all.

Keeps fresh good for me that way.

In a bread drawer once it comes out of the freezer. My bread must have freshness, can't eat nasty bread.

Freezer. I only go through about 1 loaf per month so it would go bad elsewhere.
