How do you define 'quiet' for a Maytag Bravo set?

I recently purchased the new Maytag Bravo washer and dryer and was wondering if any of you are content with the noises these machines make. I keep reading that people find it so quiet that they don't even know the washer is on until they hear the water entering or leaving the washer. I find that difficult to believe. On the wash cycle all I would like to hear is a gentle swishing of water as the clothes move around but on my machine I get this annoying whirling sound as the drum moves back and forth. And when it revs up to go in a high speed (or any change in speed level) it sounds like a jet is taking off in my laundry room. The dryer I find very loud, much louder than my old one.

All I can say is that overall it is quieter than my old top loader washer but with the words "quiet series" on the washer panel, I am disappointed because it's not dead quiet like I was led to believe. Thank goodness for the laundry room door! Is this the norm or should I call for service?
