SW Restrained Gold

Do you think that Restrained Gold would be too dark for a north facing room with limited natural light but very high ceilings? This color has always moved me and would work well with my furnishings in my den. Your opinion counts. Thanks

I have SW Restrained Gold in my north facing dining room with high ceilings. I think it looks fantastic.
I do have a large window in there which allows some light and lots of white mouldings. I think it's a dramatic color and it's perfect with the dramatic high ceilings!

I have Restrained Gold in a very dark North facing room. The only window in the room is a set of French doors that lead to a (north-facing) sunroom, which really isn't very sunny. In effect, there is no direct light coming into the space.

The Restrained Gold is a great choice for this room because it isn't so light that the lack of light makes it muddy. It holds it's own and brings a lot of warmth to the room. I would use this color again in a similar situation.

Thanks teacats, I'll go check out the Ivoire tomorrow. I have a black framed pic planned for the foyer - but lots of golds/fall colors in it. Trim is pure white, fixtures are silver metal. For now I used the Restrained, but after all the rooms are done I want to explore some other ideas - lighter colors, especially since I think I'll paint the ceiling, too.

From the way you are describing what you want, I would definately go with Dromedary Camel if you choices are down to those two, but think SW Stonebriar would be the best. There is no yellow in it at all. I just took a look at it now, with the southern exposure, afternoon light streaming in on it and it's such a nice warm color with just a touch of gold. I have a basement full of SW painted posters. Blonde, Ivoire, DC, RG, Stonebriar, and many more. They were starting to look the same to me, also.

Thank you all for your wonderful agreement. I was worried that it would be too dark with the cabs. The rest of the room is right now BM Olive Branch. What you are seeing in the RG is only one coat. The second will make the color more cleaner and I hope not as green. Karen

Thanks everyone! Rob333 - nice palette. I'm going to show this to my daughter - she'll likely love it. Bestyears - I was looking at that SW strip. I had been thinking about Meditative, but Sleepy Blue might be better since the room has no natural light. I might get a tester of it. ttodd - nice. I'll show the kids this color also.
