Anyone care to jam?

I have tentative plans to make a couple batches of strawberry jam this summer. I finally used up all the jam I made two years ago. I plan on going to a U-pick, then making a strawberry balsamic preserve with mint, maybe old fashioned strawberry preserves or a low sugar apple strawberry one. Possibly strawberry rhubarb if I can find rhubarb. But when I make jam, then I end up with jars and jars of the stuff that single-me can't use up, even when I am constantly giving it away as gifts. People hate to see me coming . . . "Oh NO, it's Pinkmountain, not more jam, PULEEZE!!"

So, anyone on the eastern side of the state near Allentown or Montgomery/Bucks suburbs want to join me for a jam party? I would be willing to host it at my house, or come to yours if you want to learn to make jam but have always been intimidated by it. I would also be more than happy to have just a U-pick pal. I can only go after June 18 because I am taking a field course in the Pine Barrens the week before and have a grant due on the 18th. Let me know either here or via GW e-mail. I'm flexible on the days of the week and times, and jam types, as long as it's something with strawberries. I could even go picking any time after the 13, but not make the jam that week, at least not at my house which will be a wreck from me being gone for a week prior. Of course for the picking we have to be flexible as the weather determines a lot.

BTW, here's a WONDERFUL "Pick Your Own" (produce) Web site I found, quite by accident. I don't know who Blake is, but he has created something VERY COOL. The URL is www.pickyourown.org. It also has TONS of information on preserving, and even some things on festivals.

Here is a link that might be useful: Pick Your Own
