speed queen washer
Comments (12)Hi Sunny! Come on in, we don't bite (much). I don't know the Whirlpools very well but the Speed Queens have an excellent reputation for reliability and ruggedness as sqfan mentions. I was almost going to get a front loader for myself but decided that the wash times were too short. But you are looking at a top loader so you are OK. Have you done a compare and contrast of the features - cycles, temps, speeds, etc.? Do the doors open the direction they should for your dryer set up, if you care? I'm pretty sure most (even us rabid FL laundyholics) would agree here that all TLs do an adequate job cleaning and would meet your needs, so it comes down to features and reliability. Unless someone else chimes in about the Whirlpool I would also look at the warranty AND future availability of service companies that can come to your home should a unit need work as make or break factors....See MoreNew Speed Queens
Comments (39)SQ Website says 440G not 400G, up almost 50% from old 300G. Also, other cycles for bulky and favorite shown on electronic model. Take a look at the control detail, quite a bit of flexibility. Also, default normal wash is 45 min (it's lit up in the picture that way); 52 min with 3rd (extra) rinse (that's about what it adds on my SQ FLW when I select extra rinse). Cycle time inside of a drying cycle, not a bad idea if you have a lot of laundry to plow through. Hvtech, I can see your point if laundry room is a long way from water heater, mine is 10 feet, so not an issue for me. In regards to dynamic water bath temp control, it is an important option in heavy duty commercial machines with a thermistor in the tub, regulating to about +\-5 degree. I suppose the right US home consumer could find utility in this, but the DOE has extensive data that shows Warm wash dominates for most home consumer washes. I have never run a cold wash, I suppose because our water can be crazy cold in the winter drawing from a frozen lake at times. In my house, it's 95% warm, but I don't have a job, or a spouse in a job, that gets very dirty. Only the nastiest work out clothes, socks, and stinky tennis shoes get the hot wash. Should be in stores soon if on the SQ website. April date probably a general availability so people don't complain if their dealer does not have stock, and as you can imagine, they need to restock every retailer of their equipment. Some retailers will likely have some sooner IMHO. Call your local dealer, he may have an order in already and would have a firmer delivery date. There should be some actual owner reviews soon....See Morespeed queen cost per load
Comments (6)There is no real easy way to answer that. However in terms of the washer, you are not talking about a lot. Compared to a front loader, you could use 1-2000 more gallons of water per year…which averages $1.50 per 1000 gallons…so $3! In terms of electricity…it varies GREATLY depending on when you use them, how you use them, how your water heater is step etc…but realistically you are probably MAX of $50/year more. And its probably more like half that number. The dryer is tricky. Average cost per load is quoted as .15c to .30c per load normally…so assuming the other alternate is the BEST and speed queen is the WORST…you are talking about $15/year based on your usage....See MoreNeed Dryer Recommendations for Speed Queen Washer
Comments (17)mamapinky0 Can you give me a link to the SQ thread? I'll be more than happy to post there. I am still new to houzz, sorry. mrb6228 the max depth in my laundry closet is 31". With the dryer vent attached, I need at least 4" clearance in the back. Width isn't an issue. ci_lantro the dryerbox would be ideal but I am not able to tear down a wall to install this. My understanding is that's the only way it can be done. Am I correct? plllog I can't make modifications to my wall and it's not a new build. Right now I am just focusing on getting the SQ washer and will settle for a non SQ dryer. When I have more space, then I can get the SQ dryer....See Moremysteryclock
