Happy Birthday Elvis

I haven't heard a word about this on any of the news reports today/tonight. He would have been 74. I can't believe he's been gone almost 32 years.

It's been on the TV and radio here....of course I'm just south of Memphis. I am about 6 miles from Graceland.

It was lots of fun to watch for Elvis in the old days!lol

OOPS!!! Sorry I didn't know that about Jan. 1 being "everybody's" birthday, if a specific date isn't given. Oh well, Happy Birthday, whenever it is. :>) Mwoods, your statement about each year bringing "joy, laughter, and some tears" is so true. None of us ever knows what's ahead for us. But, as my DH says, "It's been a trip, but I wouldn't change any of it!"

Not to "wander" to far from the palm topic once again, but speaking of pups, I'd mentioned the many pups on my Costus barbatus not long after it grew to blooming size, though I've never had it produce them since, til recently, and I'm still wondering if the pups are produced under very specific situations only? Perhaps growing in overly dry soil, or something else triggers the production of pups on some gingers? I must add , since they're so easily to grow just from simple cuttings and also from dividing the rhizomes in the clumps, I guess the production of pups isn't a big deal unless you wish to propagate many new ones and I've not had the need to do so, but it is a very easy and quick way to get new plants . In some cases years back each shoot might have half the entire shoot from midway up to the tip covered at every leaf axil with a pup, so there were many of them!

WE did your pin the tail on the hound dog, the Take your photo w/Elvis (found a life-size Elvis at the record store), the sunglasses and the pb and banana sandwihes. It was GREAT! Thank you so much for all your great ideas. P.s. The invites said, "Hey "Hound Dog", we would be all "Shook up" if you couldn't come to our party, etc. etc. with all ELvis hits in the wording... :)

I loved Elvis before he hit the big time

He left us the same year my beloved BIL left.

I remember an editorial cartoon at the time. It was a scene at the pearly gates of Heaven and all the girl angels were storming the gate. "It's Elvis!! It's Elvis! they cried"

I think I might still have that cartoon somewhere .

Elvis' birthday is special to me..my son was born 36 years ago today.

My DS was 4 when I explained to him why his Mom was sad that August day Elvis died. Guess he took it to heart cause til he was 9, we had to start the party with an Elvis tune. I thought that was so cute.
