Happy Birthday Elvis

I haven't heard a word about this on any of the news reports today/tonight. He would have been 74. I can't believe he's been gone almost 32 years.

It's been on the TV and radio here....of course I'm just south of Memphis. I am about 6 miles from Graceland.

It was lots of fun to watch for Elvis in the old days!lol

After chips and salsa and margaritas I was out of room for actual food. :) Elvis might beg to differ! My friend is in the process of divorcing and has never lived alone nor in an apartment. She was so happy to see that her new home was orderly, pretty, and ready. She had sturdy teen boys to help with the furniture. Her apartment is on the third floor. After numerous trips up and down the stairs and unpacking and organizing her kitchen and bedroom closet and breaking down boxes I slept very well! Thank you for the belated greetings. I plan to celebrate again when Alice comes home in another week or two. Eileen

I loved Elvis before he hit the big time

He left us the same year my beloved BIL left.

I remember an editorial cartoon at the time. It was a scene at the pearly gates of Heaven and all the girl angels were storming the gate. "It's Elvis!! It's Elvis! they cried"

I think I might still have that cartoon somewhere .

Elvis' birthday is special to me..my son was born 36 years ago today.

My DS was 4 when I explained to him why his Mom was sad that August day Elvis died. Guess he took it to heart cause til he was 9, we had to start the party with an Elvis tune. I thought that was so cute.

I did see Priscilla on the news tonight talking about it all. She said if he was here, he'd be having a huge cake and all his longtime friends and family around.
