We are looking at building a 1400 - 1700 sq ft home in central North Carolina. In our area of NC we have electricity, propane sources available. So, with all the recent innovations and improvements. What makes the most sense (considering our power sources) for HVAC and Water Heating?

For HVAC
- Traditional Air Heat Pump... does a Greenspeed make sense?
- GeoThermal Heat Pump.... can I recover the cost of installation in a reasonable amount of time?
- Is there propane secondary heat available? Does it make economic sense?

For Water Heating... which of these options would be better in terms of reliability and savings?
- Electric Storage
- Electric Tankless like a Stiebel Eltron Tempra 29 Plus
- Solar
