New Galley Kitchen: Brainstormers needed

Fresh meat for the design divas:

We're planning a new house, and the kitchen has turned into a galley kitchen. I'm looking for traffic flow and object placement only. The visual goal is "wide open" looking, not choppy.

Design info:

1 - Veranda wall needs to have the work counters, cooktop on there somewhere with a hood. That wall faces south, must have lots of windows.

Veranda wall will have all drawers of various depths ... I refuse to grope in deep cupboards any more!

The inside wall will have floor to ceiling cabinets, about 12 inches deep.

2 - It's open to the dining area at the left, and there is a veranda door somewhere in the DR.

3 - Kitchen needs a door to the garage walkway on the west for convenience.

4 - North of the kitchen is an office/guestroom

5 - Stairs are to the left of the word "bathroom"

6 - the 6x6 area can become shallower by giving more room to the office for bookcase or closet. Was thinking of an inset area for

7 - Two or more cooks, and we like to make big messy things like bagels, but we aren't going to need "professional" size equipment.

8 - A coffee bar is upstairs in the MBR's sitting room area, and a wine frig will be somewhere in the DR area, probably tucked under the stairs.

9 - Equipment list - standard residential stuff: cooktop, refrigerator, upright freezer, DW, microwave, at least one oven.

Here's the outline of the space it can have ...

***************

For the decor-minded ones, it will have a tile floor resembling Saltillo tile, locally made Shaker style cabinets in a dark finish, and a countertop resembling sandstone .

A minimalist New Mexico territorial look with modern plumbing is what we're after.
