What cabinets go with natural oak hardwood floors?
Comments (1)Someone here has pictures of their natural red oak floors and their quartersawn white oak cabinets. It was a beautiful contrast!! Hopefully she will post to this thread because I can't remember who it was. I did the opposite...quartersawn white oak floors and stained red oak cabinets. Quartersawn oak is more expensive, but has a very different appearance and grain. It really doesn't even look like oak, except for the tone and color of the wood....See MoreDark hardwood vs lighter hardwood floors
Comments (61)When it comes to hardwood, trends are something to ignore! Why? Because hardwood is pretty much a lifetime purchase, and unless yours is damaged in some way, you're probably not going to replace it. So, light wood vs. dark wood, wide planks vs. narrow planks -- that stuff's all going to come and go. With that in mind -- as well as the very real concerns about cleaning dark wood -- I'll vote for a nice, neutral midtone every time. Not too much contrast, not too red, and (unless it's a beach house) not too pale. I think this is the wood that's most likely to give you good service and stand the test of time....See MoreHardwood Kitchen floors to match oak cabinets
Comments (12)I have wood cabinets and if i did not have hardwood floor, I would have done a stone tile similar to what shirpp posted above - maybe a slightly lighter tone as I have only one window in my kitchen. Slate works well with white and wood - however it can be dark. Be sure you plan no alterations to your kitchen layout when you change out cabinets. Then your new floor may need to be replaced. This is my wood kitchens idea book - some newer, some older and some with a mix of white and wood. You may want to work with the wood if it is in good shape. https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/75202366/list/wood-kitchens...See MoreRed Oak Hardwood Floor
Comments (0)I have cherry cabinets ....I know a little dated, but I’m having carpet replaced in the LR with oak flooring. The two spaces are side by side and the only way to get uniformity is to strip the other side to match the mew. Attached is the kitchen now. Looking for suggestions for a I a lighter color that would compliment the cans. Just I don’t want to wind up with a yellow gym color. Looking forward to all the creative suggestions! Thank you so much....See Morecat_mom
