calling all problem solvers! drain in laundry room?

So we have a basement laundry room with no drain...we have a new front loader washer and dryer (Frigidaire) that was installed today and I have three people telling me different things.

1) There should ABSOLUTELY be a drain, or some sort of "drainage" in the laundry room or the entire place will flood if there is a problem with the washer

2) There doesnÂt need to be a drain as washers will RARELY flood a room

3) There is a device (sensor) that you can put on your hoses that will prevent the water from flooding IF the washer does break...no drain needed

I desperately need help with this...someone suggested a pan, but you cant open the drawers on the bottom of the front loaders and it looks horrible, I need an easy solution that will keep the basement from flooding with water and that will look normal...

Anyone have any ideas?? Any help would be much appreciated...

THANKS!
