Phosphonates vs Phosphates? Persil/Ariel, etc
Comments (5)Going to answer my own question here, my husband found this on gardenweb! I was a bit panicked as I did not want to use phosphates due to pollution & water concerns. This was the German laundry detergent ordered for a better price at http://eurofoodmart.com/ "Phosphonates like DTPA work as chelating agents. They basically bond with metals and other materials and sequester them to be flushed away. They are not as effective as phosphates, but they are still pretty darn good." http://www.thathomesite.com/forums/load/laundry/msg0203143616596.html?18...See MoreAriel Revita Color liquid detergent questions
Comments (3)Do you buy this detergent because it's made for the Mexican market and therefore contains phosphates? If so, you should consider buying STPP from chemistrystore.com, and adding it to whatever US detergent you want. Even with the shipping cost (shipping for a 5 lb. pail roughly doubles the price), it isn't that expensive, because you only need a tablespoon per load. Buy multiple 5 lb. pails, and the shipping is a smaller proportion of the price. I wouldn't buy a larger pail, because of concern about moisture degrading it after it's opened....See MorePersil Pro Clean rolling out - Canada
Comments (36)Is it just me? The powder smells exactly like the German megaperls? I bought that and the liquid cold water wash. The rest regular smelled odd to me in the bottle. I find the scent very strong. I don't dislike it but not sure I can handle it haha. We'll see. Haven't used the powder on a load yet but the smell and look is very much like the German as I recall it....See MorePersil VS Miele
Comments (30)kpyeatt: Your balancing situation may be due to all of the washers feet not being securely planted on the floor. One of the first loads in our LG 3570 caused a great deal of vibration - so bad that I stopped the machine during the final spin, pulling out half of the load before I let the spin finish. During a subsequent load I noticed the washer rocking slightly back and force between two opposite corners. I turned the screw of the front leg under the front corner that was rocking about 1/4 turn with the supplied wrench. This caused all of the feet to be much more solidly planted on the floor, resulting in much-more stable washer during spins. I read somewhere that one can "tune" a washer for a floor by leaving one of the front feet unlocked. Do a rinse and spin load made up of a few bath towels. When the machine is in the spin portion of the cycle turn the unlocked front foot with the wrench counterclockwise or clockwise. If the machine starts rocking or vibrating more noticeably then turn the foot in the opposite direction until the vibration is minimized. Something like that. You might try to Google this subject to find more thorough information. Good luck with getting this resolved....See MoreRelated Professionals
