Interesting info, but the next "poor sap" might want to look at a couple of items.

Noise: I have no experience with the Duet, but rarely hear my Nexxt 500 so this may or may not be an issue for people.

Door design: Are you referring to how far the plastic piece sticks into the washer? I haven't noticed clothes falling out at me, but have noticed that I can really cram things in there and still get very clean clothing. I've had 2 socks fall into the drain boot in 6 months, so I don't consider it an issue, but I can see how it might be aggravating with tiny baby clothes.

Time: Longer wash cycles are entirely due to the Bosch maintaining temperature with the heater in all cycles. I consider this a plus.

Dryer venting: The dryer will stop itself and give an error code whenever the vent is blocked. There have been many threads on this issue and all have ended with some variation of, "I cleaned my vent, removing tons of lint that I didn't know was there, and the dryer works great now." Personally, I prefer my dryer to stop and let me know the vent needs cleaning rather than keep on heating and starting a fire.

Isn't it nice that we have so many choices, since we all have different priorities? Enjoy the Duets!

Please know when I say "poor sap" I am not referring to someone who bought a bosch but rather someone who spends 2 months trying to decide on which model to get. Couple of rebuttals to your rebuttals though:

Noise: my point was that from our experience, the duet (washer and dryer) was quiter than the bosch. The bosch also has very anoying buzzers (which can be disabled sometimes), both when cycle completed and when errors occur.

Door/tub design: clothes fall out easier on the bosch than they do on the duet (from our experience). I dont know if you wash baby clothes but they get stuck in the rubber seal every other wash for us. And my wife uses the same mesh bags to store dirty clothes, in the duet, one mesh bag meant one full load of laundry, with the bosch it means you have to leave out a couple of items.

Time: When you put the duet on the highest temperature setting thus UTILIZING THE BUILT IN HEATER the duet will tell you one hour and 45 minutes and be done in that exact time. When you do this same thing on the bosch, the bosch tells you two hours and ten minutes and will often decide it wants to extend that time. In addition to this, my wife finds that she has to use more detergent in the bosch to get the same cleaning results that she got on the duet.

Dryer Venting: The rental house that we are in right now has a laundry cabinet that is NOT on an exterior wall, therefore there is a long run for the vent. The duet put up no complaints at all, but when we got the bosch home (2 weeks later), it would not run for more than 1 minute without cutting off for the e01 error. I went to home depot and got a leaf blower and blew out the vent and yes there was guite a bit of debris in there but even after blowing it out, the bosch will still give the error every 4 loads or so. Therefore, if you turn it on then leave the house, you will sometimes come home to having to reset the machine when you were expecting to have dry clothes. So again, my original statement was that the bosch dryer is pickier than the duet. If someone has a tricky venting situation, the duets are plain and simple a better choice.

Therefore in closing, I am not suggesting that the bosch's are not good units but in my opinion, the duets are 10-15% better in overall use and abilities (and the 9200's cost the same as the 500's). Please dont be offended by this, you did not buy a "slouch" machine by any stretch of the imagination, but MY OPNINION is that the duets are a better choice. I wish someone would have given me their opinion on the best when I was trying to decide.

it is strange that you find the Nexxt 500 washer louder than the Duet. They are tested to run at 54 db during the wash cycle being one of the quietest washers out there. The high speed spin may be louder than the Duet, but also a little bit faster I think.
You are comparing the highest temperature cycle of both machines, but the Bosch does reach 170 degrees instead of just 153. That it adds time at the end of the cycle is due to either an imbalance of the load or an extra rinse cycle due to oversudsing. The use of too much detergent causes longer cycles and possibly also worse cleaning results.

There is another thread about the sensitivity of the dryer regarding the lint problem. You can read there that a leaf blower won't get your vent free of lint. It is true that the Bosch is more sensitive, but it is a good safety feature to rather not operate than risking a vent fire.

I am not offended by your experience with both washers. I don't own either one (yet). I am glad that you found a washer that works good for you.

The lint links- I am searching for them as this is my current problem..... can you steer me to the area for follow up? I will keep looking, though.

Thanks for info. I have to decide whether to keep the Bosch I just bought last night or take it back asap because I simply cannot do a load of drying without the darn E-1 code every 5 minutes (not an exaggeration, unfortunately).
