Liquid Barkeeper's Friend, and cleaning quartz countertops.
Comments (162)Happy Update: After Joseph didn't respond to my PM, I called GranQuartz in Seattle, again. I figured if I was willing to pay for a flight and expenses for two, I could certainly offer a generous trip charge. Turns out, they lost my number and did have someone! He came and used the Quartz Renew. It was an all day job with all the taping to protect cabinets, etc and the fact that I did have more than one dull area from using BarKeep's Friend (which the original installers said to use). I've attached a picture of the same area as the one above in a previous post 8 months ago which showed one of the spots. I cannot see the previous spot at all! Quartz Renew really did the trick. (Any variation you see, like browner areas, is an artifact of the light. The countertop now looks very uniform.)...See Morecleaning quartz counter
Comments (9)No Vinegar has the same pH level as hydrochloric acid. pH3 and baking soda is an abrasive If you look at the care & maintenance instructions from the quartz manufacturer and also read their warranty cards. They will say not to use anything that is not pH neutral. Bleach, Vinegar, etc are all corrosive and will dull the surfaces overtime. Bleach is also mentioned NOT TO BE USED by all the major manufacturers. This is what bleach can do on both dark and light colours Whilst it can be repaired by a very limited number or specialised stonemasons (use only stonemasons as this is their trade and the master masons understand stone fully) It is expensive to correctly repair back to the original finish and shine. No just blending and a bandaid fix. We HIGHLY SUGGEST you use something like these products they will remove all stains from quartz countertops without damage...See MoreNeed Advice with Choosing Kitchen Counter tops to Compliment Island
Comments (4)I just saw this quartzite the other day at the stone yard. Looks like this is the same one. If you get this for the island, then do the perimeter as well. I think if you try and do something different, but still white, it's going to look off. (unless you do a plain white quartz) . Do a quartz that looks like marble, is not going to work, IMO. They are just two different looks. Do them all the same, or do a dark, solid contrast. Now, if you wanted to do a soapstone, I'd say fine. that would actually look nice. look at this pic to get an idea (different island, but same premise). it's not going to make things look dark if you went w/a soapstone or even a honed Jet Mist granite. Cielo is a quartzite that you may want to consider as well. this one is leathered....See MoreQuartz Counter top resurface?
