Hello, all. Someone (ruthanna?) posted this recipe for curried lamb burgers over a year ago, and I tried it over the weekend. It was so good I felt the need to report on its wonderfulness. Absolutely fabulous. Just the right amount of curry. I sprayed them lightly with cooking spray before grilling. I used cilantro (not parsley) in the burgers, and I served with Iranian Cucumber Sauce/Dip in the pita pockets with the burgers and chopped tomato.
CURRIED LAMBBURGERS
Combine:
¼ cup plain yogurt
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. curry powder
2 Tbs. minced onion
½ tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
2 slices fresh bread, crumbled
2 Tbs. chopped fresh parsley
Add 1 pound lean ground lamb and mix thoroughly. Shape into 6 thin oval shaped patties and grill until done but not dry. Serve in pita bread pockets topped with chopped tomatoes and feta cheese. Note: Fresh chopped cilantro may be substituted for the parsley for a different flavor. Also good topped with cucumber-yogurt sauce.
IRANIAN CUCUMBER SAUCE/DIP
16 oz. greek-style plain yogurt (I used fat-free)
1 large cucumber, peeled and finely chopped
3-5 cloves garlic, minced (or about a Tablespoon of bottled minced)
fresh chopped dill to taste (I used maybe 1/4 cup or a little more)
salt & pepper to taste
Mix all of the above together and chill. Good on lamb burgers or as a dip served with pita wedges.
