Backsplash dilemma - WWYD?

We had a template taken for our new quartz countertop last week. The plan at the time included a 4" quartz backsplash.

I thought that a 4" backsplash was standard and didn't even consider the possibility of any other option until delving a little deeper into these forums.

Now having done our research, we are leaning towards the option of tile from the cabinets to the counter.

We called the installer and unfortunately the stone has already been cut so it's too late to forgo the backsplash, and since the template assumed a quartz backsplash, the measurements allowed for that inch and a half or so of play.

Only once they come to do the install will they know whether they can leave the backsplash off if the fit is tight enough to be covered by tile.

Our plan today is to visit a tile store and see if we can even find a tile with the thickness that could cover that gap, if there is one.

We have also left the installer a message to see if possibly the 4" backsplash can be cut down to a 2" so that if we do need it, it won't be so thick.

We were planning on a tile backsplash that ties in with the counters, at least, so there won't be a huge contrast if there is a backsplash to contend with. We are getting Caesarstone "Concrete".

Does anybody have any advice as to other approaches we have not considered? Or any helpful suggestions on how we can best work with a 2" or 4" backsplash and tile?

Any words of wisdom would be appreciated. :-)

Thanks!
