I have cross posted this in the Decorating forum.

I am very seriously considering either of the subject marbles for my small galley kitchen. Do any of you have pictures of either of these marbles used as kitchen countertops? If so, I bed you to post pictures, please.

Silly me, I thought you were looking for Maple not
Marble.

Do you have a name of the specific marble you are looking
for? I have nothing called Espresso.

Emperador is a brown marble. But it scrathces or
etches easily. It is not often popular in kitchens for
the reason cooks often use vinegar, lemon, tomatos. Well
frankly these etch white marble too but it is not quite
as obvious with a white stone. I love Emperador. It
is gorgeous.

I will post some images of Emperador which can be a dark
coffee or a lighter latte look. And I will also suggest
some granites or even Quartz in the brown family that might
work better in a galley kitchen. But, Wait, I must tell
you my own sister has Emperador in her Lake house. She
loves it. But then we are italian and know marble is meant
to be etched. It shows what great cooks we are. (smiles)
If this is not what you are looking for, let me know and
I can try to do a search for you. I found nothing called
Espresso brown granite.

and movement but it does not etch the same way.

Thanks, boxerpup. You are correct, Emperado was what I was looking for. Thanks for the pics and the note about etching. Makes me think I will have to reconsider.

Here are the same images I posted on the Kitch forum. Emperador is the only marble that comes to mind it can be dark or light epresso colors. Not sure if this is it. I hope they help. ~boxer Emperador Emperador Emperador Keep in mind Emperador is a Marble. Not a granite. I learned this on GW. Marble etches (grantie does too but not as much as a marble). The white streaks you see are the actual etching in the stone. This is lovely but for some it can be upsetting. It may not be the best option for a busy kitchen with tomato, lemon and vinegar acids spilling about. Something to think about. There are other granites that can be stronger when sealed to the acidic cooking environment. Here are some ideas. ~boxer Granite that look brownish like Espresso. Persian Brown Granite Persian Brown Granite Desert Brown Granite Brazilian Brown Granite Lapidus Granite Golden Lace Granite Crema Bordeaux from StonesHub Niagara Gold And of course there are some wonderful Quartz or Formica counters in brown that might work for your galley kitchen too. Hi Susan. I am not sure if the following granites will go with the durango backsplash but I think they are beautiful. greta 17 has monte bello granite countertops http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/kitchbath/msg0723391928876.html and redroze has bianco antico http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/kitchbath/msg0713271421962.html?44 They are both pictured with a dark island but I am not sure if they are espresso. I have dark cherry cabinets and Caesarstone Blizzard counters on the perimeter and table surface of my island. We used BM Edgecomb Gray, which is a fairly warm gray/graige. Myself, if I have doubts about a choice, I go with something I know I will like. I don't want to risk a mistake, especially on something as expensive as cabinets or counters. I would not be able to replace them and would have to live with the bad choice. I am not a risk taker in that way. I went with medium cherry cabinets with a cinnamon stain and a Java wash. My counter will be Corian in tumbleweed which is fairly neutral. I saw the counter in a kitchen design display and loved it. I am a "weenie" when it comes to being risky with choices, so I pretty much go safe, traditional with the big purchases.

This is an OT.

Boxerpups, you are a regular font - no strike that - a well of information. IMO, this site should just be renamed the boxerpupsForum. You are able to supply a full and detailed literature survey on any subject selected. Very impressive! :-)
