Liebherr ice maker (IceMaker) malfunctioning
Comments (11)Just purchased our new Leibherr refrigerator/freezer and had the same experience- repair tried to tell us how to repair ourselves we demanded in person repair from company we purchased $8,000+ from they got involved and sent local repair - ice jammed, door stuck, bin cracked etc etc a mess ! We had to purchase a Leibherr because we were replacing a 34 yr old Subzero which we loved ! All their frigs have standardized to 83 inches and our space with drop down could only accommodate 82” with out tearing out ceiling - long story - anyway we love the frig but the ice maker is problematic- to say least - repair man came diagnosed- reset ice maker and said it had stuck in position that didn’t allow water to fill it - then Leibherr sent wrong draw to replace cracked one he came again And had to convince someone on phone it was wrong drawer (we never would have known that !) new drawer arrived then installed-still ice maker didn’t work - ordered new ice maker - installed yesterday working - keeping our fingers crossed alls well - I reall appreciate the reviews here and am left wondering why Leibherr doesn’t engineer their ice maker in a superior manner - the fridge is great What we know now is that the ice maker was over filling causing the blockage in the first place so we’ll keep an eye on that and now we know we can adjust that ! Thanks to all participants- I always say there is nothing like advice from “the front lines” !!...See MoreIce maker that makes cylindrical ice cubes
Comments (0)Back in the 70's I remember the ice maker in our standard refrigerator/freezer making essentially cylindrical ice cubes. If I remember right it had 5 molds that filled with water and the bottom of the mold would move up to push the ice cubes up and then a rake would sweep them off an into the bin. I would love to find one of these if anyone knows where to find one. I know that is what we had, but I have asked many people and nobody can even remember anything like that. As a sanity check can someone else confirm? I have searched the internet and cannot find anything at all. Thanks....See MoreAutomatic Ice Maker on Fridge Isn't Making Ice (4 Pics)
Comments (7)I have the same problem in my KA ref, just like yours. KA will not do anything about it. I had them out 3 times prior to the end of warranty and the problem was never fixed. It occurred again after the warranty was out. You guessed it. It's now my problem. The problem with mine, I figured out, is the pressure from the water filter is not great enough when the filter gets old. The fill tube (black tube in freezer) freezes up. I have taken the filter cartridge out and for the last year have had no problem. Our municipal water is very good where I live so I am not worried about quality issues. I would use a better inline filter on my water line if I were concerned. On my first service call, the tech did say that KA had repaired "hundreds" of these units like this. Unfortunately the "like this" that he did to my unit did not work. I am planning a buildout on my garden level that will include a snack bar which will have a ref. That unit will not be a KA....See MoreAlternatives to ice machine? Ice maker in full-size wine cooler?
Comments (2)Hi I don't have answers sorry. I just read your post and this is an issue for us as well. We have a side by side with ice/water in the door but the space is too narrow for a family member who is wheelchair bound to be able to access most of the items in it. We are going to get an all refrigerator all freezer pair because they will be wide enough for him to get close enough to get things...and the Whirlpool sidekicks have slide out shelves. But none of these have ice/water in the door. I love my crushed ice and not to mention the accessiblity of the ice and water in the door. I thought about an ice machine but then my husband told me that they have to be cleaned often because the temperature in an ice machine allows bacteria to form versus an ice machine in a freezer? I don't know much about it...just started researching. I don't understand why the manufacturers don't offer ice and water in the door on all refrigerator all freezer pairs. I saw there are some refrigerators with top freezers that have water in the door....See Morelee676
