another finished black/white kitchen - pics

We're 99% done - haven't done the backsplash yet, but I'm afraid this is as good as it's ever going to look, with three little kids! I'm really happy with it - it was a total first-level remodel of our house - kitchen moved to family room, family room moved to new addition, old kitchen became mudroom, etc. It was so worth it. Thank you to everyone on this forum - I researched everything extensively here!

here are some details:

cabinets - Plain & Fancy, shaker inset, dove white

cabinet hardware - Expo design center

cooktop hood - GE Profile

all other appliances - kitchenaid (incl. microwave in island - forgot to take pic)

island - grothouse lumber, flat grain maple

faucets - kohler

sinks - elkay

countertops - honed absolute black (which I love love love!)

your floor plan seems similar to at least part of mine -what are the dimensions of your kitchen and how big are your aisles? TIA for your answers

Okay, I'll ask... where's your fridge? I see the prep sink in the island, which leads me to believe the fridge is on that side of the kitchen...? Everything looks lovely by the way!

I would mount the telly on an articulating arm underneath the upper cabinet closest to the dining table. Most likely you will need to attach it to a stud. Hopefully you could make the edge of the telly flush with the end of the cabinet/counter. Using an arm will allow you to pivot the telly toward the DR table, the island or the sink. And then you can fold it flat against the wall for a more streamline look when not in use. With this arrangement, you might have to move the radio/speakers. As mentioned by another commenter/s, I would love to see a general breakdown of cost. Lovely kitchen. Enjoy it in good health!

To answer some questions: The ceiling height in the kitchen/living room is 8 feet. The height in the dining room vaults from 8 to about 9.5 feet. I'll post some pictures of the pantry and backsplash pretty soon - my daughter left on a camping trip and took the camera with her. There are some more pictures on the photobucket slideshow linked in my original post, but probably not as close up as you want. I was being lazy and didn't want to clean up the pantry before I took pictures. :) Our Jennair range is downdraft, so it is vented to the outside. We've used the vent like 3 times in 2 months. It definitely 'pulls' the burner flame a bit to the side, but I'm not one to use it much when cooking. I really wanted the pass-thru in my design. Yes, the old cabinet door style was strange. They were custom cabinets when the house was built, and lucky for us, we have 3 bathrooms with the same cabinets! That's my next project...... I forgot to say that we DID have help on this project. I did all the design and choosing of materials, and then we hired a GC to implement it for us. They did a great job!

You did an incredible job with your kitchen. It is beautiful by any standard but the fact that you did it yourself & worked within such a reasonable budget is all the more amazing! I live in Tucson, AZ & am struggling with granite. I love your choices of color & finish. Could you share where you purchased your remnants? I have been unable to locate your color choices & perhaps made the wrong assumption from your user name that you are from AZ as well. Thanks much for any advice you can provide.

LRy511, since you posted a picture of your beautiful backsplash with the smaller cabinet over the sink and glass shelf, I did a search for your kitchen. Your title picture I had printed since I love the running bond pattern you used which I have decided I am using also. I LOVE your soft white cabinets (love their style, color and hardware), your granite, your beautiful backsplash over your range, your sink set up, your faucet, your 20X 20 beautiful tiles, the way you got the beam out of the way, your wheat-back chairs (I have the same one but mine I think are in a honey maple color now), all the light you have in the kitchen with that bay window and all the ceiling lights, your wall color, the drawer storage, the pantry pull out drawers and your doggie! Thanks again for sharing. You did an amazing renovation that is beautiful as well as more functional.

thanks everyone! Yes, I actually do have a fridge! French door kitchenaid. I forgot to post that pic.

brachl - the kitchen is 22'x 16' and the aisles are 46"
acc0406 - the overhang is 15"
grannabelle - the stools are from Target. they're very solid. there are identical ones at Pottery Barn, but they're twice the cost.

Congratulations! I love that your pictures include evidence of kids in the home. It must have been quite a challenge reworking your entire space, but it is clearly worth it.

Your glassware cabinet and serving area is a really nice touch. I can just imagine an assortment of desserts set there around the holidays - Enjoy!

the wall color is benjamin moore moonshadow - it's kind of a sage green. we have the next one up on the color chip in our family room.

Beautiful kitchen....we have similar decorating styles (sippy cups and kid toys)! I especially love your island and barstools--could you give me the dimensions of your island? I just asked everyone how long an island should be to fit four barstools and yours looks perfect!

fairytalebaby - I saw your earlier post about island size, and I didn't answer because you had so many answers! Ours is 96" long x 40" deep. Four stools fit comfortably, and I plan to squeeze in 5 for larger family gatherings. I guess it also depends on how wide your stools are. The ones I have are about 15" wide.
