I looked up the Agrosun 60. Not good. Try to find a cfl of at least 42 watts. My local farm store has a 68 watt for around 16 bucks and it grows chard well, but only in a small circle. If you want to grow a larger area then find 48 inch tube shop lights t8s are common, but t12s will also work. I use 48 inch t8 4100k 2 fixtures 4 bulbs in a 2ft.x 4ft. area and can adjust the lights up or down by chains. The light fixtures are Walmart Lights of America 10 bucks. the bulbs are 7 bucks for two I think they are GE. I have had one of the fixtures crap out after a year so I had to replace it. Your plants will need to be within one or two inches of the light for the best results. That should give you an idea of where to start. Note that the bulbs are not " Grow Lights ", but standard lighting. Curt

"I always thought there was just 1 kind of ajuga," buff Not to turn this to an ajuga forum but it is a nice companion plant for hosta. My post was a bit of a joke because we've suffer a pretty deep drought. There are several, I prefer the crispa and chocolate chip types. A.'Crispa' and several that are similar grow quite dense and hold down weeds because weeds have a hard time getting through the dense mat. Hosta will shade them out pretty well so they live well together. They have broader application yet they can be controlled with weed-b-gone type broadleaf sprays. And there are several variegated varieties as Denny mentioned, my limited experience is they revert easily so maintaining in a pot would be good. Terry and others, In another thread Terry mentioned mapleleaf viburnum wouldn't be good for full sun. Have people had trouble with mapleleaf viburnum in the sun? I know I come across contradictory information about plants, but both the UConn Plant Database and William Cullina's book on native trees and shrubs have light conditions including sun. Maybe it's a matter of how dry it is. As I said in the other thread I haven't grown it myself. It may also be a bit too tall for what's needed. lovefornature, My workaround for small wildlife friendly shrubs was to plant for butterflies. There are cultivars of Clethra such as 'Hummingbird' which are supposed to stay small and it's an attractive plant. It won't work if you have people who are paranoid about bees etc like my mother is. Another thought, although it'll probably be less fun, is an evergreen shrub which will provide shelter in the winter. If you don't need the structure, you might also look into perennials that produce berries. Good luck.

Virtuals are unmatched for letting you think through color patterns in the room, proportions and the things like this-- the final placement. My opinion is based on your comment that you don't need the chair-- I would move forward with the room with only a single chair for now. Since the dimensions of your bookcase won't change-- all you'd need to do to add a chair is to slide the bookcase and perhaps by an end table. (BTW I have seen the narrow profile end tables somewhere less expensive than EA-- plow and hearth, maybe?). If you find the *perfect* chair in the next few months, Squirrels virtuals show you that you can fit one in. My biggest fear for you is that both the kitchen and FR will look furniture heavy. Having the kitchen table/chairs right there is influencing my opinion-- and they aren't visible in the virtuals. Also, it makes for a mucky path to the bathroom if the whole family is watching tv together. I think your plan to check with the store that had the ET custom made for you is a great plan. Hopefully they will come in with a decent price. I'd still like to see it in a darker finish to give you some visual interest but matching would be lovely too. I too have seen the Macy's pieces and they were solid wood (though I don't know if it was veneer on wood) and seemed to be well made. I do not think it would be a bad option for you-- other than the fact that it may not work for your photo albums. Maybe you can throw one in a tote bag and try it out on the floor? Just more of my continued 2 cents. I guess I am up to a dime now ;)
