Installing wall oven under cooktop--gap needed between?
Comments (11)"They just don't list other competitor's models in their specs. .. that Kitchenaid is "under their blanket of coverage". ." Hmmm. Kitchenaid and JennAir are both Whirlpool brands and manufactured in Whirlpool factories. Not really competitors, at all. But, as weed says, there may be different control placements which may affect clearances. Good that you checked with the helpline at JA as this info may help others. Additionally, you might want to check out the very long thread on JennAir induction cooktops over on Chowhound. The postings for the last couple of weeks are that some JA induction cooktop owners have been having diffculties with getting "streak-free" cleaning of the cooktops and some are finding that JA's "boil-over" sensors are overactive in shutting down the cooktop. (I'm not suggesting you avoid the JA, just that you get a sense of potential issues.) BTW, if you haven't been to the Chowhound site before. be aware that the organization of posts within threads can be confusing There is a clock icon at the top, just below the OP. You can click on it to sort posts in chronological order. However, many posts have replies as "sub-posts." Those subposts only get sorted under the lead to which they were replies. You may have to scan the thread to find the most recent discussions that I mentioned. Comments (0)Does anyone have this oven? It looks like it is 3 or 4 inches shorter in height than the 30" wall oven. Since I can't find a 36" induction range, I am considering putting a 36" induction cooktop and this 36" wide Wolf oven underneath it. Would that work? I read that it is not good ergonomically to do this because the oven will be very low, but if this Wolf oven is shorter in height would that help a bit? As in it could be installed a few inches higher off the floor than the 30" one? If I could get a 36" induction range I would not have to consider this alternative. I could do a 36" duel fuel range instead, but I wanted to change to induction over gas. Related to this question - are any companies making/going to make a 36" induction range? I really need the extra room on the cooktop part....See MoreInstall non-Gagg oven under Gagg 30" induction cooktop?
Comments (11)^ ^ ^ meaning that the install / planning instructions don't show that configuration so it is not DESIGNED to have an oven placed below them. Some tops have been designed for that application , but not these. I have no idea if an oven, Gaggenau or otherwise, would physically fit underneath one. YOU can easily add and subtract up you overall cabinet height, the oven height, its cutout differential (if any), the countertop thickness, and allow for recessed cooktop install if you are going that route, and add in the necessary clearance to the nearest metal object (the oven) - and come up with a number that tells you whether a particular oven will fit or not. Me , my time is too valuable to tot up any of those numbers because at the end of the day Gaggenau doesn't sanction an oven below their induction tops. So, it'd be a moot point. My strong suspicion is that the cooling fan underneath these units cannot cope with the heat given off by an oven below them. You'll have to ask Gaggenau about what they will and will not warranty, but I'm pretty confident that an oven installed below this top will negate warranty consideration from them should you need it. Comments (0)We are getting a free floor model Gaggenau induction cooktop (yay!), the 481 30". I'm trying to figure out if an oven can be installed beneath it - we can't afford to buy a matching Gaggenau oven, but has anyone installed another built in oven below the 481? It has rather large implications for our kitchen layout. thanks! This post was edited by baltimore_hygge on Tue, Dec 10, 13 at 15:02...See MoreRelated Professionals
