Do you put powder detergent in dispenser in front loader?
Comments (33)I was told by a repairman that liquids will leak into the machine and gum it up, especially if you use the delay feature. He recommended only powders for front loaders. As a result, when we recently had the dryer fixed, the repairman was surprised that my washer was in such great shape after 8 years. I never close the door after a load but let it dry completely before doing so. Also, every once in a while I throw a cup of white vinegar in with the load or put some in the fabric softener tray. I too was disappointed that Costco stopped selling their powder detergent. It was cheap and excellent....See MoreDispensing Distilled White Vinegar
Comments (3)If anyone figures out where to buy a 3 oz one (and just one of them) let me know. I was able to find 1/4 oz thru 2 oz ones (singularly) at http://gourmetpour.com/order_page.htm (see link below). However, they don't have the 3 ounce and they seem to be kind of pricey since you can buy 12 of them on the website mentioned above for around $20 or so. This website (below) has them at $8.50 each Here is a link that might be useful: http://gourmetpour.com/order_page.htm...See MoreVinegar leaks from fabric softener compartment
Comments (3)Some FS dispensers work on a siphon principle. A small amount of softener sits in the dispenser, but when filled to the brim with water a siphon action is initiated through a small tube. This may also happen if you fill the dispenser to the brim with vinegar. My suggestion is not to overfill the dispenser. If you feel that you can't get enough vinegar in there, I would suggest switching to citric acid instead. Just dissolve 1 TBSP of citric acid into a FS-sized shot of vinegar. This should be enough to provide a sour final rinse....See MoreLG WM5000HWA - fabric softener dispenser will not drain and overflows!
Comments (2)Laundry Mich - thank you! We have had issues with this machine since we got it in Dec. 2016. I think the circuit board was replaced twice. Finally it started working. We have had other intermittent issues with it leaking. I should have mentioned it's a front-loader. In this model, the bleach / fabric softener dispenser drains to a hose which leads to the drum. If it overflows, it goes right underneath the machine - which is what it was doing before I figured it out (I though a drain hose at the bottom was leaking. Here is a picture - excuse the mess. You can see it's full of water. You can also see how the outer edge is low since the piece that holds up to the side broke. Here is a picture from the top with the cover off. The hose at the right is the one that drains from the dispenser (bottom of pic) to the drum. Thanks!...See MoreRelated Professionals
