Went to the woods this morning where the cats are.

Here's a few and I have posted about 15 new photos on the Feral Cats Gallery if anyone would like to see more.

Dave those are beautiful pictures. My favorite is the one of 2 black and white cats. You have as much talent for taking cat photos as you do birds.

You are right about that, Lisa. I have lived here for 20 years since I was 22, and my gardens still aren't done. My backyard is still very plain, but with the pond, that's going to change. I had always wanted a pond, and when I stumbled into this forum, I REAALLY wanted one. I kicked it around for a year, and just decided "Go for it." Everyone on this forum has been super, super, super with all their help.

Thanks all for the nice comments- I agree Masquerade looks to be Ani Machi/Geisha. Picked it up a local gardeners club sale - just tagged wrong I would guess, since I know the gardener and they are very savvy about hostas. Peppermint Ice was ordered last year from Northern Grown Perennials (WI) and as you can see below, a lot of change in 1 year. Pics on HL show white center, so expect that to come later in season. Leaves are not very glossy so far this season, though pic below from August last year shows some gloss. I have it planted in part to bright shade - so no direct sun. Orange Marmalade had some nice leaf color variations - I think it'll get planted in a fairly bright spot. Paul

Thank you all for the very gracious & complimentary replies. dreamgoddess -- I couldn't believe it when I got those cherubs for a total of $48.20 from Horchow...orig price was $188. + add'l ship $17.00 + ship + tax. I got them for 30% off clearance($66.00) and completely free ship. bettyd_z7_va & work_in_progress_08--I didn't start until about a week before Christmas because I was down with some bug--I wasn't sure if I would do the big tree or not, and then I got a burst of energy & creativity. I have 4 cats--one is eight months old, so I wanted things on the tree that wouldn't break if it went over or was attacked. ;-) Basically the tree is full of faux flowers. Normally when I do that Victorian look I also use my collection of white china birds too, but I didn't want to risk it--I would also use delicate ornaments as well. I don't buy much new, so I try and re-purpose or re-work what I have. Even though it the same old stuff--it becomes fresh again. Judith....I've had that throw for yrs and just decided to use it on the back of the sofa, normally it's on a chair. Truth is, I wish I had "layered" a bit more like getting bows on my Staff dog collection I store it all in a full attic with full staircase access, so that makes things easier when moving bins up and down, what slows me down is arthritis in hands and knees. I will take it all down over a period of time and don't rush it, otherwise it would be too overwhelming. Again, I don't want to stress my joints. I just noticed--the two cakes are actually 3-wick candles and I forgot to take off their wrappers. Jim

Yes, the chairs were moved to the tables-there wasn't dinner, per se, but nibbles available. Once the sun went down, people let their hair down and started dancing, using the lounge and loosening up. This definitely wasn't your typical wedding! But it was exactly what the kids wanted. We did not do many traditional things-my DS walked his sister down the aisle; there was a communal vow to support the couple, the officiant said the Bride may now kiss her Groom. No cake cutting, no garter or bouquet throwing. The kids just wanted a celebration that reflected them, and that is what we had. I didn't realize it, but I guess I DID have the I Dream of Jeanie bottle in mind when I designed the lounge! Inspired by photos of Indian mandaps, this was what i came up with. The whole thing didn't completely meet with my vision, but it came close-and the kids loved it, which was all that mattered to me.

Dave, Those are great shots. I guess I don't understand the whole feral cat thing in your area. Around here, you can call the Animal Shelter and they will lend you or set traps, you catch bring in, and they spay or neuter. If then you as the "neighbor" have the choice of releasing them or keeping them, or trying to integrate them into new homes. The shelters are full of sweet "adoptable" cats. So they do the free altering. A friend of mine who lives in my neighborhood, takes in pregnant mothers. Lets them have their littleones in her house, and then takes them all to the Shelter for spaying/neutering. She's found homes for most of the kittens, and the three mothers come to her for food, but basically are still feral. She has 2 of her own and kept 4 from the first litter she took in.

For being wild those cats are sure slick and shiny.
They obviously are disease free and have a great food source!

Terri, I think there are some programs available. I have to do some research. The local "animal control" would just as soon euthanize them.

Lori, they are quite a few tics on these cats, but they do get fed well.

Mush, I just take photos as a hobby(an expensive one). Don't sell any photos

Lori, I agree, they do look healthy..
The "man" who's cats run the neighborhood..(whom my friend takes in)..He's got oh gosh I don't know how many...and they proliferate with a kitty passion..they look ratty and nasty..he feeds them..but not enough...and that's about all they get.
He also has fowl the run the neighborhood, used to have bunnies too. Animal Control let's it go..don't know why...I'm glad I live on the other circle!

There's the red tabby who looks like my sweet Red, and the black reminds me of my Blackie. (Am I creative on pet names or what...LOL at myself.) Just wish I could've taken such great pics of my sweet kitties before they had to 'go'.

Dave, I'm glad you're at least checking on the feral policies in your area.
