Nice Raven, here is my present one. Notice the icons on the lower left. I center my wallpaper and add a matching background. I can even change the color of the task bar to match.

Yes, fun thread!

To do a screen shot, simply hold the "fn" key and press the "prt sc" key, usually above your numerical keypad. Nothing will happen. Go to your photoshop program, or 'paint' program that comes with windows. Click on a new blank page, then hit 'ctrl v' to paste. Voila. Done.

hehehe okay. LOL I'm on my laptop and it's between my ctrl and alt key. It could be if you're on a PC you have to push the alt key instead. I can't remember what I did when I had my PC, but that rings a bell.

The screen shot is easy. I just press the Prt Scr key on the right top row of keys. Open Paint or download irfanview and click on edit then paste. That's the easy part. Uploading and getting the right code was the hard part for me. Irfanview is very easy for sizing, after opening it just click on resize, then the first size option on the right, 640 X something ?. that size is good for forums, the 800 something size is nicer.

I'm getting nowhere! I have the Prt Scr key. I tried it with Alt, then with Ctrl, with the Windows key in between them, with Shift, and by itself. I have a nice blank space in Photoshop waiting for me to paste into, but I have nothing to paste. Gee, no wonder I never learned to do a screen shot. :-)

alisande, was that taken in the Norwegian Fjords? If I was a young adult I would apply for a job in places like and work the season. The pay is not good but the experience of living there would be wonderful.

Oh, wait--I tried pasting into Word, and it worked. Except because I have two monitors running, it copied both of them together. I'll try turning off one and see what happens.

Vala, I'm not sure where that was taken, but it looks enchanting. One of the photographers on a website I go to is always photographing his native Norway. So beautiful and atmospheric!

alisande, you don't need any key except prtscrn. On paint look under edit and choose paste. I used to use paint, but now use irfanview. It has to be uploaded, not sure you can do that with photo on word. I will try and see.

I mostly have my grands for wall paper these days. :)

I do not mind sharing the source at all but I am not sure at which of my wallpaper sites I got it LOL I will check to see if I can find it. I know I use a lot from Vlad, he does some great ones.

I thought the clocks were great also, but sounds like you have to pay for the software after the free trial.

for the clocks, their free version. Vlad studios is always doing some really great and creative stuff, it is one of my fave sites to visit and spend some time on. Yes just look for the view more wallpaper or browse wallpapers, some sites will sort them out for you in the specific size for your monitor resolution, alphacoders does that which is a nice feature. I see that Vlad now has that feature too.
I have been at Vlad today and found so many new ones to add to my wallpapers folder, such creative work there.

I made a collage of some seagulls that came to visit our veranda when our ship was docked in Vancouver. They were a so entertaining.

I wanted to show you what I did with one of the sites Raven listed. It was a photo of 4 alien faces which was to small for wallpaper. I trimmed it then tiled it for my desktop. It would make a good Halloween desktop. Sorry it is a little large, but you can see the detail better. I think it is hilarious.

Often times when they do not have one in the proper size for my monitor resolution I take the size they offer and then use picnik to resize it or put a mat or border on it. I love using picnik to do creative stuff to them.

I use irfanview. I center my wallpaper because I don't like the "in your face" look. I use a matching background and it looks framed. I haven't learned to make a frame. This PC allows me to change the color of the task bar also. I really like that.
