can I see pictures of kitchen cabinet crown molding

We are going to take the soffit down and I want to add some crown molding. Something different - not real fancy.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Nothing fancy but it does make a difference in the look.

i too had soffits all around the kitchen and took them out along with two closet pantries. I extended the cabinets almost to the ceiling and used crown molding all the way up.

trying to load some pictures for you but there is no way for me......do you know how?

Lynetta, I admire your thriftiness and hard work! Those are great CL cabinets. I love bead board, and just brought some yesterday for my kitchen 'face lift' after 24 years! People will cringe, but I bought the PVC type at Home Depot as I have used it as wainscot in 2 bathrooms, it's bullet proof, and looks far better than the wooden bead board after time that my sister installed in her bathroom. This is my inspiration kitchen below, although mine is tiny in my old cape, at 11 x 15. I loved the cab color and am painting my natural maple cabs SW ' Softened Green'. I'm going to use the bead board as they did, below the upper cabs to the counter top. Have you installed all of your upper cabs? I see on the one in the right of your pic that the door is a bit longer than the box. I don't know whether there is enough room to drop your uppers down a bit to accept some small crown molding? My original cabinets stopped about 6" from the ceiling, and had crown, not going to the ceiling. What a dust catcher behind that crown! I just had the original crown removed, fascia added and now new larger crown at the upper part of the fascia, and this is what it looked like briefly. Original crown removed, with potential window treatment fabric draped over the cab. Now with just primer. Please try to ignore the old range hood! I had small crown put in my living room years ago, due to low ceilings in my old house. IF you have any room to drop your upper cabs a bit, I think you can add your crown. You've got several problems. If you buy more of the same crown from your cabinet company, you'll still have to deal with the gap above the corner cabinet. If you raise the existing crown to the ceiling, it's very unlikely you'd find unpainted crown that matches it's size and profile, plus you'd then have to deal with a gap between the cabinets and the bottom of the crown. Here's what I would do. Choose the new crown mold you want for the rest of the room and measure it's height (how far down from the ceiling it comes). Make a mark on the wall at that height, then use a level to transfer that height to the stained crown and mark it. Then, trace the old, existing crown's profile onto the wall with a pencil. Now you have a mark where the bottom of the new crown will intersect the old crown, and another mark where the old crown will have to be narrowed to fit underneath the new. Carefully remove the stained crown from the corner cabinet. Next, build a frame above the corner cabinet that's the same height as the new crown, and that extends beyond the cabinet to the point at which the new crown will intersect the old. Now, install the new, painted crown around the kitchen and across the new soffit. Last, run the old crown through a table saw and cut it down so that it fits underneath the new crown. With me? This is a tough one to visualize.

I feel in love with my dental crown molding.
This photo is old prior to painting the ceiling etc..,
but it give you an idea.

I took the soffits down - good riddance - and have about 5" of crown molding on top of my cabinets. It does a great job of hiding the small unevenness of the ceiling.

I wish I could post pictures of my crown moulding too, but I am still waiting for them to be installed. Boxerpups I love dentil too and that is what I picked. I am hoping it doesn't overwhelm my cabinets. Yours looks beautiful. It is so hard to pick out with just a little picture of the outline.

At the time I purchased, I was told I could not choose another molding and so I am stuck with this molding. I would have picked the one posted above. This one seems dated.

Here's a closeup of mine:

Here's the design...a 3-piece crown that uses the middle "stock" piece to adjust for differences in ceiling height. The stock piece is cut-to-fit while the top & bottom pieces remain the same.

mhan 101 - those are beautiful cabinets. Can I Ask what name brand they are? Also, your handles, where did you get them from . Those are what I'm looking for in our kitchen. Funny is your entrance looks like the layout of my kitchen, minus the island in the middle and window to the right. Its looks great!

We took down the wall between the old kitchen and the family room. We also removed the soffits and the new cabinets go up to the ceiling. We wanted the molding around the new cabinets to tie in to the family room molding. DH bought the molding and stained it and the carpenter installed them. The crown/dental molding continues around the rest of the kitchen.

Mine is similar to Buehl's with that stock piece. We took out a wall between the kitchen and dining room and the two rooms were totally different heights.

This is an old picture with our patio table, we have a new table now.

It will look wonderful. NO worries.
You can never go wrong with crown molding and
dental is just gorgeous.

Mine is very simple and very contemporary. It is three pieces: A bullnose walnut, a flat maple that was scribed to the ceiling, and a flat/rounded top piece.

For accuracy in reporting LOL, that fridge is GONE!! The new one is a seamless, totally built in Miele that we LOVE!

Bixa525's kitchen layout is identical to ours. The cabinets are the same as well. Does anyone know how to do the molding he did on his cabinets? I have no idea how to do this and I am looking for direction.
