Bill V, et al Experience with SSt Sb/Fe sealers?

Bill and Kevin, et al,

There is supposed to be a new "lifetime sealer" for stone on the market. I'm not sure if it is SST. Sb or Fe, but I have heard all these letters mentioned. Do you know if the hype is true, how long it has been in use, what installer/client experience is (as opposed to what advertisers/manufacturers say about it)? Thanks in advance. I was thinking of using Porous Plus next time I reseal, but am wondering about this stuff. (I have granite, marble, and travertine in various applications in my kitchen and master bath.)

First, no I haven't heard of this lifetime sealer. Secondly, I didn't see any surface on your list that would warrant the use of POrous Plus. It's not like you get any more benefit out of it than the 511 Impregnator. You get the very same protection, for the very same length of time. The only difference is you pay more than twice the money that the Impregnator costs. Not a very wise move.

There's a product from Surface Treatment Technologies that
I am evaluating shortly (as soon as I get the working samples from STT) -
I believe they have a lifetime warranty,
but I am not certain, as I don't have the product literature
in front of me to quote... Although, I have heard nothing
but RAVE reaviews from many of my colleagues in the Natural
Stone Industry that have tried it, and now use it exclusively,
so It has a really good reputation - but I like the Missouri
    approach - "Show Me"..... ;-)

Stay tuned as I'll be posting a seperate thread on it within
    the next 10 days...

That said, I have to agree with Bill's remarks about the impregnator
versus the porous plus - although in the past,
all I have ever used is Porous Plus 511 - Bill's logic makes
sense - I guess I have been a bit old fashioned in my reasoning
for insisting on using nothing but 511 Porous Plus - BUT,
when you NEVER have a call back - (ever since I've been
using 511 Porous Plus) you don't want to "fix" what aint
    broke...

BUT - My Brother Bill makes a good point, so, I guess I'd
better test both 511 products to see for myself...

I'll post that too in the next 10 days.

Kevin, have you had a chance to do the head to head tests with the Impregnator and Porous Plus?

Kevin & Bill I have an additional question:

While shopping for the 511 Impregnator (which I purchased & it works great, thank you!) I noticed they also have a product called '511 Seal and Enhance'. I have to admit, when my granite needed sealing (got dark water marks) I LOVE the look of the darker color...so, I wondered if that product would turn my granite that darker color & seal it with that look? Any experience or thoughts on that???

    TIA!

Yes, it will. That's exactly what it's made for, and works very well.

While we are are waiting for my colleage's report, I can tell you that I am using the SB/FE sealer now. It is by far the best sealer I have ever used. It does come with a lifetime warranty against staining. This does not cover oxidization or etching from acidic substances. I have contractors that are requesting that I use this on all of their jobs. It's good stuff. Created by fabricators for fabricators. It is not available on the retail market.
