Should Central Air Conditioner be perfectly level?

I had some work done outside my house that required moving the central air conditioner unit. It's been put back but it is not level. I am concerned that having it not be level will ruin the unit. It is only 2 years old so I absolutely want to keep it in the best shape possible. It's a freon type unit.

Thanks for any advice. It's on a concrete slab that they had to dig around to do other work.

Nothing's ever 100% perfect, so there is room for slight differences, but the unit should be relatively level. Can't see it from here though. Just took a look at Carrier's installation data for one of their units, and it says, "NOTE: Unit must be level to within Â±2Â° (Â±3/8 in./ft) per
compressor manufacturer specifications."

Thank you!!! I will try to figure out how much it is off. I know I can see it being off and that my level has the bubble go all the way to the end.

I think you should repost your questions in the Heating and Air Conditioning forum at this site. They have experts that will answer them with authority. I am just a homeowner, but I know that on my heat pump system the thermostat has only one switch that can be set for either fan or auto. In the fan postition the inside fan runs constantly instead of cycling on and off as heat or cooling is called for. This is normally only used when a whole house filtration (not just a fiberglass dust collector pad) is used to constantly keep indoor air dust free. In auto the fan cycles with the heat or cool unit. Some units actually have a two speed motor and can automatically switch speeds depending on if you are heating or cooling.

Hello, I guess some people don't like me. Such is life. On to the plan. If you have sheet rock, the repairs aren't so bad. It is difficult to match some textures, but there aint nuthin that can't be fixed. If the first guy fails, get another, and another until you are happy. In remodeling, we have scraped the texture off and started over many times. We have removed very expensive paneling to do repairs. We have opened concrete walls, Block walls, to make repairs. My company has worked on many projects that looked impossible. Trying to use one return, is about like sharing your toothbrush with your next door neighbor. Replace the bad duct. Don't do anything unnecessary. Get a second opinion first.

In your climate, I would get a quote on several brands including Goodman. The cooling season is short in MN. T agree with Ryan, I personally would NOT go above a 14-SEER. First & foremost of importance is the correct order of proper procedures to follow for optimal efficiency of operation, & long trouble-free equipment performance. Before you do anything else, educate yourself enough to ensure that you request the proper things be done in the proper order of sequence. We just installed central AC and that was one of my questions to all of the people that quoted me. Answer is NO. You don't want condensation effecting it from covering it up like many people do. They are build to be outdoors and withstand the weather elements, however, if yours is in an area surrounded by trees with falling debris, you may want to put a vented cover on the top only - temporarily. GE came out with a report many years ago and stated that the outdoor units should not exceed a 5 degree tilt. Excessive wear on the internal mounts of the compressor would accelerate past this degree of level. I trust their studies as GE was very conscientious of these matters.
