I am remodeling. Removed wall between kitchen and living room. Had chosen KA appliances because manager at Sears said KA dishwasher and microwave hood vent were the quietest. Last night began reading reviews and now I am scared of what I have considered. The ones that have recently installed new appliances in an open concept home (small) please tell me if you are satisfied with your selection and the model. I need a counter depth refrigerator freezer that is not over $2k, a dishwasher, slide in range or stove and a microwave vent combination. I will also be installing in 2 weeks. This is a rental but I still want durable appliances that are quiet. Kitchen original dimensions were 11.5 x 17.8 Open room (living and kitchen) is 23 x 20 As you can tell quite small but the view is worth the size. Thank you, Jenn

Thank hidroman re: Blomberg dishwasher. Here in Canada, the Blomberg name is used and definitely marketed as Turkish. They were pricing their appliances very competitively when they entered the market a few years ago so that seems to be why their prices are affordable. Seems to be great machines so it was nice to get info from you that confirms the positives. As for the refrigerator, I'm trying to decide between a Samsung counterdepth model and a Whirlpool/KitchenAid/Jenn-Air model. The Samsungs seem to be really good fridges (despite reports of ice-machine problems) while the fit/finish/interiors of the WP/KA/JA brands seem nicer. What would you vote for or do you have any suggestions for an alternative? Now, the hardest is the slide-in range vs cooktop/oven. I prefer the cooktop/oven look but the cost will be higher. Having said that, I found a decently priced GE Profile cooktop and a nice touch-control Faber, both 30". I would need to find a relatively affordable but good quality convection wall oven. Alternatively, I would like a nice electric slide-in range with clean looking lines and a quality cooking surface, preferably without a stainless border. I'm leaning towards a KA/JA model unless someone else suggests otherwise.

I did all similar research and/or have similar items. Here you go! Fridge - I have a 48" KitchenAid and have been 100% happy with it for 5 yrs now a double electric wall oven or an oven and convection microwave combination, I have a 27" GE Profile Oven - It's ok. I am so-so on all GE products as so many have crapped out. I would go BOSCH 500 series but then buy the glide rails. I have the convection/micro combo - it was $$$ and crapped out. Was $300 to fix. We didn't fix. Is $600 to replace. I'm ticked. It was 2 yrs old. Drawer microwave if I go with the double wall ovens - SHARP is highest rated I believe Dishwasher - Miele or Bosch/slightly cheaper. Boy I love my Bosch! 30 or 36 inch induction range. I will be brand new to induction- I have a 30" GE Induction. It was about $2600 5 yrs ago. I love it for searing/messy cooking as it cleans like a whiz, and for low simmer it's awesome. I still miss Gas. But it's a great range. The oven I have not been pleased with again -- at once point it was 100 degrees off. Yup, you read that right. I adjusted it as much as I could (+/- 35 you can change it) but I still have issues with it. It needs to warm up for like 45 min to be even. It's okay. Induction is pretty cool. Wet hands don't work well on the buttons but other than that, it's a slick cooking machine.

Can someone speak to the griddles on their range/rangetop? I have been considering appliances not based on the number of burners, but the inclusion of a griddle. How are these cleaned? I am anticipating more than pancakes and tortillas. Animal proteins make quite a different greasy mess, and I want to be able to thoroughly and easily clean a griddle. I took a brief look in a modest price range and saw one that had a non-stick surface. That would never hold up in the long term with my cooking. I want a scrape-able heavy duty surface with a receptacle to collect the debris. Any thoughts?
