How to Get Ipad Photos Into Print/ Make Books?

I have a two year old ipad and have never known how to do this. I used Shutterfly for my camera, but the reviews for their app( and most others) are not encourging. I gave up. Surely there is now an easy way to to accomplish this. If not, then why does it even have a camera ? Oh, except I can now easily post pics here :>)
Anyone? TIA!!!

I used shutterfly to create a book from our trip to E Europe and it came out wonderful. The quality of the paper, the images, the color rendition and the cover was just great. I found their software easy to use and was pleased with the flexibility in terms of fonts and positioning, cropping and sizing pics as well. I was very pleased with the result.

I have used them for years to make my annual holiday card as well as have made calendars.

Hi annie. Yes, me too...great photo,books using shutterfly....but from a camera, not my iPad. Finding the way to do it is making me nuts. Am I blind, or are there no easy sources? Please tell me your pix were from a camera or ipad.

I just got a white pages and a yellow pages, and tossed them directly into the recycle bin. About a week or two later got a "car" phone book, which went into recycling also - *not* into a landfill. Often I'll get another one or two from other publishers. Yellow pages are advertisement. Rates are based on distribution so if they drop unwanted ones, they get paid more. It doesn't cost much more to make more books, it's the initial runs and smaller runs that get more expensive. Plus delivery of this type is not like the mail service, UPS or FedEx. They do NOT go by address. The delivery agent gets a territory to cover and a volume of product to deliver to all the buildings in that area. They can estimate or use city maps to determine number of items needed and they usually give some extra product in case of damage. I tried out their CD rom one time and that was a joke. I look things up on the internet and print my own "phone book" when needed for the vehicle. The 2 or 3 times in my life I've needed a phone book while away from home was solved by stopping at a gas station and borrowing theirs. I also keep the library phone number in my cell so I could call them to look something up for me if I needed it. Or I could always use a "lifeline" and "phone a friend"... if I had any! :) Never saw a need for a phone book in the vehicle except for kindling or bathroom supplies while camping! There's FAR better things to carry in the vehicle IMO.

Thank you all for you responses. You've given me some good ideas, and some names of books that just might spark some discussion. I'm always a little leery of books about the Holocaust; I often find them too upsetting to read. But The Sunflower sounds like it goes beyond just relating the horrors to some deeper reflections on human nature. My library doesn't have a copy, nor a copy of A Thread of Grace, but I think I'll look elsewhere for them. I like the idea of the reading kits. I believe our local library has a few of those; I'm not sure how many. I went to one meeting of the library book club. We discussed Joseph Campbell's The Power of Myth, a fabulous book, but I was disappointed in the discussion. It was dominated by a woman who wanted to discuss current-day politics, and the leader/librarian, couldn't seem to slow her down. The discussion ended exactly one hour after we started, even though we had lots more to discuss.

Dedtired- how do you like your new iPad so far? The 10.5" is intriguing but I wonder if it's more than I need so I was curious what you thought. I like the keyboard/cover too. I know how you feel about the mental exhaustion - this week I've been researching cell phones but when I discovered that Verizon will give me $200 additional off an iPad I figured I'd upgrade that too and give my 9.7" to my DDIL. She's pregnant with her first and may find the iPad handier than her big Macbook. As I mentioned in my other thread my son gave me an iWatch a month ago that's still in the box. So I envision moving into my local Apple store while I take their classes - luckily I have 2 Apple stores within 8 miles so I can spread my ignorance around a little. lol

Hi, mshutterbug. I like your concept. It's essentially a "rotating" gallery wall and I think it will be interesting and fun. I'd go with shelves in a similar finish as that of the built-in top. In consideration of the shorties in the family, I'd add a light weight but sturdy step stool. (It's a drag sometimes, but working for what we want tends to build character!) It'll also serve as nice perch for a smaller person. Since you're thinking about ditching the framed cork board, consider some art in its place. As I'm sure you're aware, art is something that enriches and educates young and old alike. I think a lamp would be good, too. A table top terrarium would be educational and likely enjoyed by everyone in the family. You can make it and care for it together. They're really fun! I added an abacus, because it could be a learning opportunity for everyone in the house. They also have an orderly, sculptural quality I find appealing. Your aesthetic may differ. Here's a mock-up to illustrate my ideas. I hope it helps! (The rug placement/size can be addressed when and if you choose.)

i, too, have had photo books printed by Shutterfly. easy and fast.

Are you using the iPad app for Shutterfly?

I posted the same question a while ago, and still have not found a satisfactory answer. For now mybest solution has been to dump my ipad photos to my computer, and from there upload to a photo service. Frustrating indeed!

I did do it from my camera, but once you upload the photos to shutterfly, it should be the same thing, no?

martinca, I just rechecked.

The printed photo book I ordered from Shutterfly was by using the Shutterfly Photo Story app (free). You do need to be sure your iPad runs 6.0 IOS. (I think its 6.0)

Thanks, maddielee. Was it a regular book, vs. The "talking' story book? Have you also ordered prints of ipad pics from shutterfly? i will be so thrilled if this works well. kiki, too, right?!
