prep sink next to induction cooktop, how close is too close??

I'm trying to decide about prep sink placement. I have a 36" induction cooktop centered on a run of countertop with 29" of counter on each side of the cooktop. I was considering putting a 15" prep sink on one side of the cooktop. I thought this would be great for chopping veggies and throwing them in the skillet, dumping pasta water, and a pullout faucet doubling as a pot filler. My cabinet guy tells me that I can't due to risk of shorting since I have an electric cooktop. At first I thought, "OK, time to regroup". Then I started wondering, what about all those pot fillers next to cooktops? I'm checking with my electrician and will go to the local library and look up the building code (they've got all the local code books :)). Does anybody have a set up like this or have any insights/suggestions?
