I rarely see movies in the theater, but I want to see this one.

I think CF is attached, BTW. I'm just sayin'....... LOL

My sister went and saw this movie and she said that when the movie ended, the audience got up and clapped. She said it was excellent.

I am the same, seldom to never go to a movie. But I made myself venture out for this one. I hope you go as soon as you are able and let me know what you think. If I was there, I would go with you. And yes...I think you are correct, CF is indeed, very much attached. But, a girl can dream...

Hi lirra...yes, the audience we were a part of yesterday had the same reaction. We all clapped. Most of us also stayed and watched the credits to the end. It was THAT good.

Sooey..He's mine..he just doesn't know it. I thought he was gay till last night. As I said in a previous post, I saw 15 movies this year and Kings Speech, Social Network and the Kids are All Right were the very best. CF's performance was outstanding..An Oscar worthy one for sure. I'd see this movie again. I thought it would never arrive here since it was released in November and just got here this week. Too darn many kiddie movies(IMO) and not enough adult ones. I'm waiting for a few more to get here like Blue Valentine.

CF is yours???? Oh lily...silly, silly lily...CF has been MINE since Pride and Prejudice, the first one, not that silly remake. Be still, my heart! ;) But, I can see that the bigger thing for me to do is, share...we both know that he is well worth it.

I have not seen Social Network but after the Golden Globes last night, it is one I will try to see. We saw The Kids Are All Right on Pay Per View over the holidays. I thought it was just 'all right'...glad I didn't spend the big bucks to see it in the theater. I also saw Sex in the City, II, but that was with a bunch of girl friends out for an evening...awful movie but we all had fun.

I have seen The King's Speech and Social Network, and both are very good. I do love Colin Firth, and I also loved the sets for the palace. Still cannot figure out what was on the speech coach's office walls. Was it painted stuff, worn off paint, what? I will have to look at it again WITHOUT my grandsons present.

I wondered that myself, Sheila. I might have to rent this when it comes out. The old buildings were so cool. Just loved the ambiance and character of this movie. The actors all resembled who they played except Colin Firth. He's way too handsome.

One of the best movies I have ever seen! Strange thing happened in the theater. We went to see something else that was advertised in Boston paper...manager introduced himself and asked what we were there to see that afternoon (3 weeks ago now) and when we told him apologized and said ad was error. Told us to stay in lobby right where we were...came back and gave us two free passes to a movie, and told us to go into this movie, that it was up for Globe noms and one of the best HE'd ever seen. We did and are very grateful. Superb movie. Enjoy...

Yes, I am sure that the 'R' is for language of which, there was very little and only in the context of the speech therapy.

Sheila, I also thought the wall 'covering' in his office was odd. To me, it was in charater with the age of the building. It looked like several layers of old wallpaper. Did you notice the change, upgrade, in the walls as well as the entire living area of the family as the relationship with the King evolved? I was happy to see that.

My movie group saw it two weeks ago. We all thought it was wonderful. I'm going again this week because DH wants to see it. Do go Glenda, you will love it. A friend asked me about the R rating after I had seen it and I had to think hard and long to figure out why. He says the "F" word over and over again during a speech therapy session but instead of being offensive (and I hate that word) it's really very comical. I was really wondering why the R rating but that would be it.

Saw it last night, it was great. Best movie I have seen in a long time.

I loved this movie too, and when it finished everyone in the audience clapped. It has been a long time since I have experienced that !

I love CF as well.

Geoffrey Rush was wonderful..he is an Australia (as I am). He is a brilliant actor.

The little girl who played Princess Margaret, is also in a British Tv show called "Outnumbered"...it is one of the most brilliant shows I have seen. It is about a family and a comedy. The acting by the children is the best I have ever seen.

We saw it this afternoon and it is SUPERB. My husband had a stuttering problem when he was young and he could relate to so much of the film. When his dad joined the Navy and went off to war and left he, his mother, 2 sisters and brother, the stuttering started. The therapy sessions consisted of putting model planes together, like in the movie. He also worked on puzzles. Through the years he has overcome the stutter, he is now 71.

It's so good I can't get it off my mind, it won't be playing at our theater so we drove out of town to see it which we never do, my husband said it was worth the trip. It will win many Oscars, no doubt about that.

DH and I were planning on seeing this earlier today, but we got a couple inches of snow so we decided to go another day. It wasn't showing at our local theater either so we would have had to drive a few towns over.

I just saw it today--great movie!

Another piece of movie trivia, a taste of what was to become:

At the end, when the royal family is on the balcony waving to the people, Princess Elizabeth was doing the "royal wave" (where the fingers are together and she just twists her wrist or hand), while Princess Margaret was waving like a child and most adults do it, the "floppy" wave.

I just thought that was funny!

My kids, in their 30s, were unaware as the movie came out that this is a true story. I do wish that the background was more obvious or clear. The abdication and Mrs. Simpson and her reputation were touched on perhaps too lightly. Especially I would have liked to see more of a point made that this family had not been trained for the crown, expected to live a quiet life out of the limelight, and resented the spot that they were put in by Edward.

I hope it wins an Oscar.

For anyone who would like to learn more about young Prince John, who was briefly mentioned in this movie, there is the movie called The Lost Prince, which is available from Netflix.

I had never heard of this son, and I cannot vouch for the movie's accuracy, but it's pretty good, although, quite sad.

londondi - that was a fascinating article. I;m going to see the film tomorrow for my birthday treat. I'll have to take a good look at the crowd in the stadium - inflatable!

DH & I saw it today. He prefers action movies, but I managed to get him to this one, and he liked it very much. It's excellent, much better than the usual fare we are offered. I'm betting it will get best picture, and CF best actor (admitting I haven't seen all the others).
