FYI, I am replacing a 2 ton unit which was installed when my house was built 10 yrs ago in NoVA.

Quote# 1 from first company: Carrier Infinity heating and AC system - SEER 18.5 and EER 13.6

* Carrier 80% gas furnance (2 stage) M# 58CVA070-12

* Carrier infinity 1 AC M# 24ANA124A31

* Carrier cased evaporator coil M# CNPVP3014ATA

* Infinity control

* 1yr part and labor, 5 yr parts, 10 yr compressor

* Informed system qualifies for Federal Tax Credit

Quote #1 Price: $8200 (I need to confirm the $8200 Price does *not* include the deduction for the $1000 Carrier rebate - will confirm tomorrow)

Quote #2 from 2nd company: Carrier Infinity 17

* 24ANA724 - AC (Puron) two speed

* CNPUP24 - Cooling coil

* 58CVA70-12 - Furnance two stage variable speed

* Infinity control

* 10 yr parts and labor

Quote #2 Price: $8134 (I need to confirm the $8134 price does not include the deduction for the $1000 Carrier rebate)

Please note: I was informed by the 2nd tec that the system outlined in Quote #2 does *not* qualify for the federal tax rebate and I would have to get a Performance series in order to get that (which doesnt make sense to me since the Infinity series are more efficient????)

I welcome your thoughts and comments and appreciate the insight as I am confused right now. Thank you in advance!
