Sink Dilemma - single bowl, 20g or dbl,16g?

If you got through my cryptic subject, thank you! Here's one of my (many) issues right now.

I would love a gigantic, single bowl sink. We are doing laminate countertops, so it must be a drop-in sink (I don't want to mess with trying to do an undermount with laminate). I also want it to be a "nice" gauge, which I think would be 18 or below.

Price is a huge factor. I can't spend a boatload on my sink, especially since we will replace the countertops in about 5-10 years and I'll get the beautiful apron-front sink at that point.

Ticor only has ONE overmount sink, and it's a double bowl, 16 gauge. $199 (plus accessories)

Home Depot has an Elkay that is a single bowl, but only 20 gauge. (i can't remember the price, approximately the same as the Ticor).

Is it more important to have a better gauge or a single bowl? Help.
