Onions, onions, onions

It's been a long time since I've used fresh onions that I have to cut. Normally I either buy a bag of frozen onions (already chopped) or just use onion powder. My husband brought me a recipe that he wanted me to try, and because it's his mom's, he didn't want me to take short cuts.

Well, I'll be durned if I can remember the way to chop an onion without burning ones eyes to tears for an hour afterward!

What's the trick?
