Just venting and looking for solutions .

My hubby tried to adjust the front legs to level it but it does not seem to be making a difference also using a level it seems to be already level... but it must be off somewhere.

We can not reach the back legs unless we pull it out but it has my 1st load of laundry in it and I had to stop it because I was afraid ... I called lowes they are sending someone out tomorow to level it.

I guess I am worried that it will be hard to get this right.... because it would have to be pulled out to get to the back legs to level it and when it goes back in the correct spot it might be unlevel again.

I wonder what else it could be... Anyone have any ideas..

Did they remove the moving bolts out of the back? Check your manual for location.

Similar thoughts have occurred to me, as well, especially with the newest Kenmore/Electrolux freestanding induction range (with knob burner controls) being briefly down around $1300/$1400 over Labor Day and the Kenmore Elite slide-in (also made for Sears by Elux) now being down to $2264. While slide-ins are always priced well above the corresponding free-standing versions, Samsung's initial suggested retail price was absurd. Lowe's is still asking way too much for the Samsung but AJ Madison (as Lt.islander points out) is presently asking $2500 for it. That's only about $50 more than what AJ Madison is asking for the GE Slide-in Induction (PHS920). So, for those in the market for an induction slide-in, why indeed not consider the Kenmore Elite slide-in? As with everything, every choice has tradeoffs. The Samsung has a larger usable cooktop surface and a distinctly larger oven which can be split into two separate convection compartments. Also has a knob interface for burner controls which really appeals to some. Maybe not worth an extra $2k to most of us, but maybe enough to persuade some to spend the additional $250 that the Samsung costs at AJM versus the Kenmore Elite. On the other hand, as fauguy noted above, the Samsung owner's manual indicates that the range has only 10 steps for burner heat settings. The Kenmore Elite has half step settings from #3 to # 9 (plus boost) and increments of .2 at the low end between 1 and 2.8 where finer adjustments seem useful. Judging from user comments, some of the Kenmores have failed after a few years and left some buyers pretty ticked at the company's inabiity to fix the ranges. Samsung has had its share of similar posting for its free-standing induction ranges. In both cases, though, not a very large number of postings good and bad. How Samsung will do with the newest model remains to be seen. That's the long answer. The short answer is that somebody must be buying those Sears induction ranges but they don't seem to be posting here in the appliances forum at gardenweb. My FL Samsung 338 spins at some 1300 RPM and my clothes do not end up in a ball up knot or wrinkled mass at the end of the wash cycle. In fact, my clothes are less wrinkled with this W/D set than they have been with any set Ive used. I could wear my clothes right out of the dryerÂbut I suffer from OCD so I iron everything, including my sheets, before I put them away. My experience thus far with the Samsung is very positive: gets clothing very clean; extremely quiet; gentle on my clothes; large capacity; offers many wash options including a warm rinse cycle, a steam clean, a quick wash cycle of 34 minutes and a rinse only option. It has a delayed start so I can load the machine at night and have a load ready for the dryer as soon as I get up in the morning so I get a jump on the laundry chore. The steam clean really works to get out stains. I thought it was a gimmick until I tried it on a bunch of towels that a full container of cola spilled on; it happened during our move when we were without a W/D for a week. Not only were the towels stained, but very stinky. I didn't expect the towels to come clean, but the steam feature got both the stains and the smell out. It also has brighten up my whites (I can't use bleach due to allergies and psoriasis) to the point that my husband actually noticed. I donÂt like to dry my clothes bone dry and this dryer allows me to dry my clothes to the point where there is just a tab bit of moisture left in them without my having to babysit the machine. All I have to do is lower the temperature on the machine to med low and set the timed dry to 40 minutes and the clothes come out just like I like them. Just a note on delivery: whatever brand you decide on, if you purchase pedestals just be adamant with the installers about NOT turning your machine upside down to install the pedestals. Some manufactures are now starting to go after the dealers about this; nonetheless, many dealers are still turning the machines upside down to install the pedestals because the machines are very heavy and itÂs more convenient to install the pedestals this way. Some installers will try to tell you itÂs ok to turn the washer upside down with the shipping bolts in placeÂnot true. Turning the washer upside down can damage the tub, knock it out of alignment, or other damage can occur in the process as the machines are very heavy. Even after the Samsung rep went to my local Lowes and told them to stop turning the washers upside down, the installer tried to tell me it was okay for him to turn the machine upside with the bolts in place. When the installer turned my dryer upside down, I made him take it back to the store and I called the Operations Manager for a little talk. (I stopped him before he turned the washer upside down. I made it very clear that if I am paying for the W/D, no one was turning anything upside downÂand I donÂt care if SamsungÂs rep said it was okay to turn the dryer upside down. A new dryer was sent out and it was not turned upside down. Bottom line: your money; your machines; you have a right to have the machine properly handled.

I just got this washer today. Didn't get the dryer - I couldn't justify replacing my very functional though ugly and scratched up Kenmore. So far, I'm really liking the washer. Of course, I've only done a few loads so far. Everything seems to be nice and clean. I'm nerdy enough to admit I sat on the laundry room floor for a few minutes to watch the first load washing. Yes, with my face like an inch from the door since they're tinted. I was washing my children's bedding. At first I was concerned because it didn't seem like my son's quilt was getting wet all the way through. But the washer adds water a bit at a time - like it adds some, does a few tumbles, and then adds some more. Within a few minutes there was enough water that everything was wet and there was a pleasant "slosh" sound. (I'm weird - I love that sound.) I got mine via Best Buy online for $611 - free shipping and install. The installation guys were friendly and very efficient. I left the metal wrench that comes with the set (to remove shipping bolts and level the washer) on top of it during my first load to see if there was any vibration - nothing. I definitely don't think it's silent, but the sounds I hear are the motor (slight humming), the water pump on occasion, and a slight and lovely sloshing sound when the wash cycle really gets going. I have noticed a little water in the seal after each load - won't be a problem to get in one swipe with a microfiber rag when I'm done for the night. Got a load of whites (towels and washrags, mostly) in there on Sanitize now - I'm very eager to see the results. I didn't get the extended service contract. I generally don't - my experiences with them in the past have not been pleasant. I'll wait through my 1-yr parts & labor warranty from the manufacturer, then I'll add the washer for $5/mo to my service contract through my gas company. I have been very pleased so far with the service calls I've had through them for my range and dryer.

I am fairly sure that crooks101 didn't mean it that way. It is not about selling a broken washer, but about selling a washer that doesn't work in a specific setting or doesn't fullfill somebody's specific expectations without being broken. Something like a vibration problem doesn't mean that the same washer won't work on a concrete floor. In crooks101's case, the Miele didn't use the heater on the normal cycle and Miele won't "fix" it. There are many Miele owners who don't care about that issue though. I agree, however, that a good return policy is always better than having to sell an appliance that is almost new. After several years of using a washer, I wouldn't be too concerned about its resale value anymore. And you can still sell something that is broken if you disclose the problem and somebody wants it anyway for spare parts or so...

Yes the shipping bolts were removed.

Lowe's installed it, they are coming back on Sat.

I can not figure out what else could be making it vibrate so bad. Hopefully they can figure it out. I have waited so long to get these Fl. I had a bowl of popcorn and I had a front row seat to watch it. Pretty lame thing to look forward to on a Friday night. :) LOL

Now I just noticed that the rubber seal looks twisted.
What the heck. Something must be messed up.
They should be here within the next 4 hours. But it is the installation guys coming . I think I need a repair person now, or they should just give me a new washer. Gosh I am nervous. Thanks for giving me a place to vent.

The Gasket Seal may have twisted if they moved it without the Shipping Bolts

The Shipping Bolts may have been removed before they brought it.

Maybe it's a previous customer return.

that was my thought after doing some reading...

I think that they took off the shipping bolts first and then laid it down to hook up the pedastals. Which is a big no no.

New instalation guys said that they also recomend getting a new one after looking at it. Now I have to have a repair guy look at it to get it approved. That will have to wait until Monday. At least they have more in stock and it will only be few days and not weeks. I am feeling better now.

No worries - you're covered no matter what. Our installation is tomorrow morning, so that's what I keep telling myself at least :)

Bigideas, they are also only suppose to put that model on the side in order to install the pedestals. No front or back. So if they did screw-up, watch them "like a hawk" when they bring the replacement.

You should have got installation instructions. Read up and keep them in line. Good luck!

Okay ...
I asked my father (without letting him know which way was correct first) how they laid the washer and dryer down when installing the pedestals he said UPSIDEDOWN. He was sure of it. So I am now wondering if there is a possibility that they also messed something up in the dryer. I have tested it for a few minuties with a couple of items. Seems okay.
But at least I have something to tell Lowe's now. I just don't like the fact of getting someone in trouble. But I also just want a new washer brought to my house. The picture directions do show laying them on the side but it does not specifically say it in words.

thanks for the suggestions you all gave because It realy got me searching for a reason.

I will have to be home for the next installation. At least now I will know what to look for.

Upside down? If they did this, then I would expect to see the shock absorbers diconnected, because they aren't designed to support the weight of the internal wash tub when the washer is upside down. If that's the case I'd ask for a new washer, or maybe even your money back.

When Sears came to pick up the LG I was returning, I left the shipping bolts on top of the machine so they could reinstall them. They didn't, instead just put them into the drum and carried the machine off.

I moved my FL before without shipping bolts being put in and had no problems. We loaded it carefully in the car, I put small wash cloths in between the drum and gasket, somehow I thought it might help, and slowly drove with it. It is washing just fine.

Our Samsung came from Lowes with bolts installed. The installers did a good job - never tilted it more than 20 degrees, and everything seems to be working fine.

Sounds like a bad installation. Don't worry about getting folks in trouble - they should make it right!

If I was here when they installed it and saw with my own 2 eyes - then i would not have a problem with stating that they laid it upside down. I have to trust what my dad said he saw when they installed it so its like "hearsay" LOL

After a few phone calls a repair guy (through samsung)
is coming later today. My hubby will be home ( I want to be here but I have a dentist appt) So hopefully he will agree that we need a new one.

I'll update later. :)

update----

finally today the repair man came and fixed the washer.
He did say the shock absorbers were not connected.
Then he ran a cycle and water started coming out the bottom... he forgot to hook up the drain hose, Ugh

anyway I went downstairs and now there is water on the floor leaking from the ceiling. I am upset.

Now i have to post in a differnt form to find out if I need to have the subfloor replaced because that is where the washer sits. It needs to be sturdy and it will probably mold and rot now that it is wet right?

Sorry but I guess I just have the worst luck...
Now I am going to turn my hubby lose on the repair guy becasue I can not take this being nice thing.. does not get me anywhere. That saying "you catch more flys with honey" is hogwash!!!!!!!

Depending on how wet it got it may dry without an issue.

Did the vibration go away?

If the water is clean, dried quickly, and there were no mold spores in the wetted area, then mold probably won't result.

Some repair/installation people seem to be put off their game by being watched, but I say watch 'em anyway! We had new carpet installed in our master bedroom yesterday, and I was glad I hung around. There were questions I was able to answer, and they took great care not to disturb walls, light fixtures, etc.

Yes we put a fan pointing upward on the basment ceiling - my hubby said that it looks like it would dry pretty quickly and he also thinks there won't be a problem. I have calmed down a lot since yesterday but at that point I had just had enough

Yes, the washer seems to be working perfectly now-- 3 loads of laundry later!
