Comments (10)That is very interesting! The heater must make a significant difference since it says that it is "capable of NSF certified sanitization." I am not sure how the oxi dispense impacts that, unless you need to use an oxi bleach in order for proper sanitation to take place. It may very well just be bad wording, which is quite common in Sears appliance literature. Joe Description reads: "ENERGY STAR qualified appliance. The Oasis HT washer puts together the latest in energy efficient technology and huge capacity - it holds up to 24 bath towels (24 in. by 44 in. towels) - in the popular top-load format. The washer meets Tier 2 CEE efficiency ratings. The timed Oxi dispenser helps make this the first top-load washer capable of NSF certified sanitization. A built-in thermal heater, gentlewash technology and Catalyst cleaning action remove stains and take care of clothes....See MoreI don't likely kenmore elite top loader...
Comments (50)I have all these same issues with water tempeture on my machine and after a great deal of playing with it, I figured out that it's basically a water presure issue. We have a house built in 1950. We have changed some of the plumbing but not all of it. For some reason the presure on our cold water come out a lot more than the hot. What this means is that for taking a shower the hot has to be turned on full and the cold only a very little bit. We also have our hot water tank turned up just a bit higher than the recommended mark. It's the same principle with the washer. If the cold is coming out a lot faster than the hot then your starting temp in the washer is going to be a lot lower than the engineer intended. You basically have to find that happy place where you cold is set just the right way and the hot is all on just like you have to fiddle with it in the shower. So what I did is measured all the temps at the end of the wash and systematically turned the cold down until I got the right temps. What it means is that our cold isn't on very much at all and it takes longer to fill a cold wash but It saves me from having to constantly play with the water during the hot cycles. Basically you want even presure for both hot and cold and if unfortunately your hot doesn't have a lot of presure than the cold won't either. Our longer term solution is to get rid of all the galvanized pipe in the house that is causing all the problems with water presure. Comments (5)Blackbelt consumer: Sorry to hear of your bad encounter with Sears. You know, when I first got those machines home and tried them on, I already felt that something wasn't "kosher." I guess we bought in to the sales talk too quickly. We never learned our lesson dealing with Sears. We got a Kenmore dishwasher. It was a smaller capacity one, but cost more. We got it because of space limitation. Before the year was up, it already had problem--the water spinner broke--it melted away! And of course the warranty period was over too. So, I was thinking to myself how could Sears sell such a shoddy product! Anyway, Sears will be history for me too. spark823: Thanks for the heads up on LG. Interesting thing is that a few people in this forum seem to have positive things to say of it, but of course until the problem becomes a problem, it's always ok. In all fairness, all things will have problems some day, but if the problems become evident too soon, then the product is no better than the top loaders. They seem to last for years. Only difference is its energy saving feature, but I wonder how much savings is worth looking into, considering all inconveniences one has to go through. By the way, I do use the new detergent that is made for front loaders. laudrytech: The only thing with our set is that we have installed a new vent, so there's no kink or clog as far as we can tell. Also, the machine being so new, there isn't any residue around the door. That said, I will look out for the helpful things you suggested for future trouble shooting though. Guys, I have learned something here and want to thank each one of you for taking the time to respond. Meanwhile, I've been thinking of reverting back to good old days--with the top loaders. Any models to recommend? Stackable ones are preferred. Thanks so much once again and have a good evening....See MoreWhich Speed Queen Top-Load Washer?
Comments (35)We bought the TC5 late last month and I love it so much! It replaced a GE front loader that was only 3 years old. I love doing laundry now - our clothes and towels are a lot softer and smell cleaner, even without using a detergent with any fragrance. It washes so quickly and things have just come out really clean. I love it and won't go back to anything else. We also got the 10yr warranty with it through the end of the year. The 2018 TR models got terrible reviews, I'd definitely stay away from those. For the TC5, if you have it on Normal Eco it only washes on cold and with less water. The other cycles use more water and any temp. We wash almost everything on the bulky cycle with warm water and it fills up about 3/4 with water. We've used the deep fill option a handful of times. I do about 8-10 loads or more a week. I recommend!...See Moredadoes
