"Marble Look" Quartz Countertop Modern?

I'm about to embark on a major kitchen renovation. I want the overall look to be modern and clean. The majority of the cabinetry will be plain front white with a walnut accents--a "waterfall' island with walnut base and walnut open shelves on one wall.
Here's my question: What kind of countertop? I really want to go with quartz because of it's durability and love the look of carrarra marble but will a marble-look quartz top look 'modern enough?' Specifically looking at Caesarstone Frosty Carrina, Misty Carrera or London Grey, or Cambria Torquay, Silestone Lagoon or Lyra, or should I just go with a plain white quartz top?
Again, want it to look clean and modern but warm (I'm hoping the walnut will help with that.) Thanks Gardenwebers!

I just got a bit of Caesarstone Alpine mist which has white veining on a light grey background -- it looks very modern, not marbley to me but organic somehow.

I think some people on here are waiting for Ceasarstone Calacatta which is supposed to have large scale grey veining more like the real thing but has not yet been released (supposed to be "early 2014").

We are using Frosty Carrina on our island, I just got my samples on Friday. It is gorgeous but the veining is very subtle and hardly noticeable from a distance. Also got samples of the London Grey, also love it, it's warmer and creamier. I think either would look modern and clean. Good luck! :)

I have Cambria Torquay and use Clorox wipes on them all the time. I use them to wipe down my counters, then follow it up with Method granite polish from Target (LOVE that stuff!) There is absolutely no streaking, haze, residue, discoloration, etc. I frequently put hot items straight onto the countertop, but try to use a trivet or pot holder most of the time. I'm not super worried about it, but I figure it doesn't hurt to use a little extra caution. I was given the option of having the sink cut-out finished into a cutting board, so I used that for a long time as a tester of sorts. It has held up to all stains and temperatures I've subjected it to. I was advised by the installer to use a it of straight acetone for any stains that couldn't be removed with regular cleaner or by scraping with a razor blade. That was four years ago, and I have yet to find anything that didn't wipe right off. And that's saying something, because I have young children. I absolutely love my quartz counters and would buy them again in a heartbeat.

In my area, $79 a sq foot is on the very lowest side of what I see in Atlanta (that requires going outside the city a bit - nowhere inside the metro area has prices that low, I don't think anyway). Perhaps b/c you are getting such a small amount and it is coming from a remnant? I agree with other poster's comments though - pick one or the other; don't mix. It will look like you didn't have enough money to put the quartzite everywhere. If you want to mix and match something, have the cabinets in the island be a different color, or wood and the perimeter white or cream (not sure what you are going for so just throwing out ideas).

Check out White Macaubus quartzite which looks terrific in modern kitchens. There are several examples of it here on GW, all of which are lust-worthy.

We are in same boat! Examined all the options and picked frosty carrina. Now finding out Caesarstone doesn't make slabs big enough for our island. Just sick about it! And don't know what to do...

Silestone has many of their colors in larger slabs (128 X 63") vs. the predominant size of 120 X 65".

anything larger than 128 X 63" and you'll need natural stone. before you decide make sure it'll actually be possible to install such a large single piece.

we have done VERY large island over 1000 lbs but it required a crane.

I used both marble and Ceasarstone in my contemporary kitchen. I had a mix of walnut and high-gloss white cabinets. More info is in the Finished Kitchen Blog.
