Comments (6)The flaws I find in many cabinets (in that price catagory) is they just dont put them together well. You take a cabinet out of the box and look at the joints and often there are gaps filled with glue. Then there are the staples, badly cut dovetails, cheap plastic drawer slide mounts, bumpy finish, plastic interiors, weak hot melt glue, etc., etc. I've even had cabinets coming apart right out of the box. All this adds up to short cabinet life and who wants to remodel after a short time? If that is the price range you have to be in, I wish you lots of luck. But if you can afford more, do it. I'm not trying to insult anyone that owns those brands. I'm just trying to caution people that they need to look very closely at how things are built. Key Important Features: Look for tight joints (sides, backs, frames, doors, etc.). No hot melt glue (look all over for signs of this cheap glue - backs, bottoms, inside corners, etc.). Smooth as silk surfaces. Tight dovetails. No particle board. At least 1/2" thick quality plywood that doesnt have soft layers in between. At least 3/4" thick plywood shelves. If it has a fake wood grain inside, it is cheap material. Drawer slides with metal mounts (not plastic mounts). Mortise and white glue frame joints. Metal shelf pins. If you don't get these features, you will eventually regret your purchase and most likely someone will have to invest a lot of money......See MoreSchrock cabinetry?
Comments (2)sorry but i am pretty sure aristokraft and schrock are not the same. they are both master brand but so are kraftmaid, dynasty, etc so that has nothing to do with the cabinet. schrock is diamond/thomasville/kemper. aristokraft has another brand name also but i can't recall it. i just replaced builder grade aristokraft with medallion silverline and was ocd on researching cab companies. lots were just out of my budget. my very basic oakland held up for 15 years but were not looking pretty. look at the aristokraft website to get the specs on the particular cabinet you are being quoted. this is a very good site to research cabinet brands. opinions will vary widely depending on who you talk to but cabinets that should be close in price to the aristokraft are some kraftmaid, medallion silverline, some kemper/diamond/schrock and quite a few more that i can not think of. look for a thread on here comparing painted shaker cab prices done by a KD...See MoreDiamond/Schrock Cabinet Colors
Comments (2)My mom is in the industry so I had her send me some pictures so I could get the colors in my head of what the off white would look like with bright white trim that we currently have. She does a lot of Coconut, like fight to keep the sample in the showroom. Top is coconut, bottom is white. Shiloh cabinets left eggshell, right soft white....See MoreDiamond / Kemper / Schrock vanity cabinets have only 9" drawers?
Comments (2)My Kraftmaid vanity has 9" openings and the interior of the drawer itself is 7". I have one set of drawers in a 36" vanity in a guest bath. The top drawer has two tubes of toothpaste, a 2-pack of extra toothbrushes, floss, some single dental brushes, deodorant, nail clippers, tweezers. With two top drawers you should be fine with other small stuff like combs and brushes and make-up. You'll be able to store bottles in the bottom drawers. Some may be too tall and need to go in the sink base....See MoreRelated Professionals
