You GO, @Kathy Linn! I resolved early-on in our kitchen design to adopt a "no-stainless" policy (more for the looks than the upkeep), and so set out to find an antique, enameled stove (for cleanability in addition to looks) and even went with copper sinks to avoid SS. My first kitchen was all-white when we bought the house, and not really in a good way - laminate countertops and mdf cabinets in addition to white appliances. It was more work keeping the countertops white than the fridge (although the door handle did yellow with time) but I was done with white by the time we moved. For our build I settled on a 1929 Glenwood, restored at a shop outside Boston. It was a splurge but like yours (which is also very handsome) one we'll never need to replace. I'd like to think if consumers start throwing the SS junk back in appliance companies' (and designers') faces and going with restored antiques or otherwise reliable, easy-to-clean appliances with actual color options that we don't have to replace after 5-10 years, maybe they'll stop telling us what we should want and start producing quality again.

I have a small galley-type kitchen...The house is old...I replaced with white kitchenaid dishwasher yrs ago and a white maytag with black top stove. Our frig is old and so this was the next appliance to replace. It was white also. However, I hated this big white side-by-side Sears Frig. I didn't want to buy stainless steel...thought it would stick out like a big bullet in my galley kitchen. Didn't want white either...too blah and hard to clean. So, I bought a pretty black stainless steel (sorta muted black on front) Whirlpool french door-type frig...I LOVE IT..it's the kind that doesn't show fingerprints...So, now....I wonder what color to paint my old oak cabinets with this old, but nice beigy, salmon color corian countertop...Anybody want to take a stab at this???? I can't replace the white other appliances...they are too new...but the black top stove does look nice with the frig...the dishwasher is across the aisle from them in white...

I think shelayne is mistaken. Below is photo from the Miele brochure comparing ADA and non ADA dishwashers. You can see in the ADA the middle tray is seriously compromised. You can't even fit a dinner tray on that. So I wonder if it's better to get an ADA without a cutlery tray to increase the usability of the top tray. Or if I should get an ADA with a cutlery tray and a limited middle rack. I've never had a dw with a cutlery tray so I don't know how useful it is but it sounds like a great feature to have. Not sure if it's great enough to compromise the tray below it though. So I need to decide if I'm going to get an ADA dw with or without a cutlery tray? Thoughts? Advice? Suggestions? HELP! :-)

Really depends on the cabinet finish, how much you see the DW fronts from other areas and other factorss -- including personal preference. I generally dislike black and like lighter cabinet colors, so it would probably be stainless for me. However, I went panels when I decided on a pair of DWs so I wouldn't have that much stainless on a single run of cabinets. I replaced one of the DWs this summer and kept the other one for now. I saw your other post and was going to say you could probably replace only one, especially if they have panels. How are you not seeing models that will take a panel? The big box stores will not have them displayed but may be able to order them. I did look there, but had to order mine through a showroom -- but it was quick, easy -- the delivery and install were flawless, panel and all.
