now that you posted pics of the whole area, I really don't mind the green. it would probably be less money and mess if you replaced the countertops and the slate backsplash w/something lighter. is that an option? I'd change your hardware to copper or soft gold to tie in w/all of the wood and your pots. maybe switch out the vent hood to a copper and wood one! I do like the wood on your bar top and would leave that. but switching that brown/gold counters w/something lighter, along /the backsplash, would be the change you're looking for. But please, try doing the lights first! I promise you you'll be amazed some examples of green w/lighter countertops (and brighter lighting!).

Did you save any scraps of wood? I have used a lime wax before. It would make it look like your candlesticks. I’m not a pro, so I would consult someone before using it on a built-in. An espresso stain would match other elements and not compete with the fireplace, but might be heavy. I think you have a very nice balance between dark and light now. If you had continued your baseboard beneath it, I would say paint it the trim color. Probably would still be fine. Hopefully someone will give you some advice on other colors. I would definitely try any stain/wax treatments on scrap first so you know what technique will give you the color you want. You might have to use wood conditioner or do a certain number of coats.

do you have a quote. this would be far too expensive relative to the age and general remaining value of the cabinets. I would consider a section to redo either paint or replace. I would not paint this entire cluster of oak cabinets all one shade of white or off white. the counters are doing no favor in reality.....but you could leave a section of this counter material somewhere and replace some........the backsplash should be replaced no matter what and the floor could be much nicer and you could complement the medium toned oak cabinetry with a new floor. so you have a pick of floor/counters/backsplash. I'd study the options and line item some pricing of doing another one or two things before I'd paint the cabs.
