Looking for boys knitted sweater patters

My grandson is a year old, want to knit him a sweater, nothing fancy, just a plain sweater with buttons down the front.

Does anyone have a pattern they would like to share.

The yarn companies have websites with lots of free patterns. One is lionbrand.com. Also you can search with Google, just type in "knitted kid's sweater". There are many many sites and I'm sure you will find exactly what you are looking for.

Actually I have been searching on the web for patterns, but everything has either a pattern knitted into the sweater or a lot of cables. That is why I was asking here.

So hopefully someone has a pattern that they would like to share.

1. Finishing a crochet baby blanket from 2 years ago (someone I know is pregnant). 2. Finishing a child's poncho, which was going to be a birthdy present in spring, but now will be a Christmas present. 3. Just started a shawl in various cream and soft pink colors. 4. Have yarn and pattern for summer sleeveless top (fat chance on that one). Too busy outside gardening! Cutting wayyy back some junipers from the 1950's to make room for perennials in 99+ heat. Linda, Yes, the panels are in rows. I have emailed you. Thank you for responding. Following the panels with the rows and trying to figure out how many stitches in between (the pattern doesn't say) American patterns tell you every stitch. I'm going to give it another try.

Mystery holes in cotton knits

What an interesting thread. I've had these holes appearing in my shirts, which has been costing me money to replace and headaches to deal with. At first, I blamed my desk at work for creating abrasion points. The desk is old (20+ years) and has edges that have degraded. I initially put scotch tape over the rough edges that quickly wore through so thought I had confirmed the source. I then bought 5 foot long plastic corner protectors, so thought I had solved the problem. Not so. The holes persisted in more shirts (both thrifted and new ones). The final straw was when I saw the holes in a nightgown. How is that possible? I am not inclined to do much in my nightgown--other than sleep. I don't see the belly button protein theory as the issue given that I have psoriasis so there would be more than that one spot vulnerable. Then I thought weight gain (blame COVID and aging). I don't wear belts often so can't blame that. Also my jean wearing has been next to nothing since the weight gain and limited access for shopping so no jean snaps in use. The nightgown holes cancel out the seat belt theory for me. That leaves me to consider the washer, detergent, toothpaste splatter, or pill bugs. I have seen pill bugs in the past, but why would they be active only recently and not all these years? Washer is not an option for me as I've seen damage from an old washer and it does not restrict itself to one small area. Same for detergent. So, what's left? Cheaper cotton? But why only in the one spot? It's quite the mystery.

Look at Lionbrand.com and redheart.com and find a plain cardigan. I like to knit in worsted weight a cardigan pattern that has you knit the front left and right and the back and each sleeve separately. Then you sew them together. I knit the pieces in 3 or 4 crayon bright colors. I knit the back red, one front yellow and the other one blue. Then I knit one sleeve red and sew it on to the blue front side of the sweater and knit the other sleeve blue and sew it on the yellow side of the sweater. Turns out real cute.

Lion Brand has a really simple one knit in all one piece. Then sew up the side and arm seams. No set in sleeve. It's called Easy Peasy. There are 3 sizes. One is 18 months. You have to join to see the free patterns, but it's worth doing if you aren't a member of Lion Brand.

There's another simple one, but you have to sew on the sleeves. It's called Charlie's Cardi.
