Have you checked out Lion Brand's website? They have dozens of crochet patterns. The difficulty is rated at the beginning of each pattern, and many are labeled "easy."

The only thing you might want to avoid for the time being is using the Fun Fur to crochet. I've heard others say it is difficult to crochet.

My first crochet project was a triangle shawl with fringe. Solid color worsted using J-hook. All of it done using sc. It looks very professional, and no one would know it was a beginner's project, it looks so nice. Here's the pattern. Email me to discuss more simple patterns. PS: My best advice to any beginner is beware of errors in most crochet patterns, especially Lion Brand which occasionally will leave out an *. It probably goes without saying that no one proofs the patterns being submitted, as it just wouldnt be worth anyone's time to sit and work a project to see if there are any errors in it. It's up to us to figure out that an error or omition has occurred, then not to fear attempting to figure out what is missing. The first time I worked in the round to make a beret, the publisher left out the instructions for how to make the top knot, assuming anyone would already know! NOT! I had to rip out several attempts to invent one myself and finally got it right. Best of luck and dont give up.
