Sorry, but my camera is dead! If interested in actually doing this edging on something, I'd suggest you knit a swatch of 20 or so stitches, depending on the yarn you're using(my shawl was done in garter stitch in single ply lace weight), and see what you think. Elizabeth Zimmerman suggested the same sort of crocheted edging, only she slipped several stitches each time....as I am planning to block my shawl and didn't want too tight an edging, I opted for the instructions I posted earlier.

Hi There! I understand your problem...I have arthritis, tendonitis and fibromyalgia! I agree with Shaddy101, I have found that if I am crocheting and things get to hurting, I alternate with knitting or another project and it helps. I also use a product called StoPain...just spray it on and it really stops the pain for 1 to 3 hours! I bought one with a big handle and found that I hold the thing like a pencil, close to the hook. That big handle didn't help me at all. Hope this helps you some... Dana in TX

The only info that I can give you is on the small hook, which is a group of steel hooks, used for thread work, whereas the aluminum hooks are for yarn. The steel hooks go from 14, which is very tiny to size 00, which I have in my groups of hooks, and that is many. Collector here. The aluminum hooks go from A, I believe, to N, or perhaps larger by this time. I am not a yarn fan, but have many of those hooks as well, not all the particular sizes. Don't know much about the milimeter sizes, I don't do a lot of work with items that require gauge, so that isn't an issue for me. This probably hasn't helped, and there will and should be other answers coming in from cyberspace, but you do have a handle on the idea that different hooks are for different species of thread/yarn.
