I need to add $4.51 to my Amazon cart. Suggestions?

I am buying the book "A Homemade Life: Stories and Recipes from My Kitchen Table" (Hardcover) by Molly Wizenberg - the writer of the Orangette blog - for a friend. I have another item in my Amazon cart and need something else to push it over the $25 top for the free shipping. Any suggestions for kitchen toys, consumable or not?

(I'm getting the book for myself from my library, I haven't read Orangette, but the 'peek' inside the Amazon pages look good)

Hong, I wish I was rich and could afford to fly you here, lol. I pulled a Mike today in walmart and went to the garden area fisrt and had all kinds of goodies in the cart then went to the paint section and got a few cans of green paint then I saw the manager of the garden dept and she told me they had the pond I had looked at a while back on clearance with the pump liner and the whole kit for $45 with a 36 gallon liner. So I put back the some stuff and got the ticket for the pond. Then hubby kept calling and adding things he needed so the paint ended up near the produce section. I'll either have to go with black since I already have some or wait a little bit til I get more money. Now I have yet another project to do, lol. I hope it is big enough to have a fish or two in it and it has ledges different depths for plants. Oh boy I think I have ADD I can't seem to stay on track lately. Lol. I will take pics as I go but it will take me a little while to get everything situated. I have some landscape fabric already and will probably use round up then put the newspaper then the fabric then the mulch for underneath the gazebo. I think I am going to move it some too. We sit on the back porch a lot and you can't see it way over where it is very well. I just feel like I am putting everything on one side of the yard because of how far it is to the faucet, lol. If we get some extra money I really would love another water line or dream big and wish for a sprinkler system. Lucy we just wish each other Happy Birthday or you never know and might get a surprise in the mail sometimes. I have to get to bed soon. I have a doctor appt in the morning. Sorry I have been hogging the forum. Its been an exciting week. Karyn I will check at Lowes and see if they have some left. The one I got is small enough to ship. I'll send you that one and get 2 more. Patty might go with me and do some enabling, lol. They didn't have any at Walmart and with the high wind we had today what they had outside looked terrible. I drove an allamanda around in the buggy for a while though, lol. There should be lots of stuff on the clearance rack after today at Lowes, lol. I am going to have to get an advance on my payday, lol.

Honey also shows price history. You can put on a notification list for lower prices and it tells you if it's the "best deal" on the item. The only thing that makes me mad about Amazon Subscribe & Save is it does not tell you if it's available for less (not S&S) elsewhere on the website. I have 52 subscriptions, so it takes time to go through the next month's delivery to check prices. I hope everyone that uses Amazon use smile.amazon.com so your purchases that are eligible for donation (bottom line, below) can go to your favorite charity or school system when you sign up. My purchases have donated almost $250 to DGS private school (2+ yrs ago). The Amazon app does not generate the donations, so I always order from my laptop or Safari on my cell phone.

You can get more of your look but it will be easier if you embrace your love of blue and white and think less of gray:) On the plus side, newer design pics show lots of white, warm woods and less gray. I admit my least favorite thing about the kitchen is the paneled fridge followed closely by the over the range microwave which I could not even reach:) Actually, The first thing I would do is nothing since this is a new to you home. Then you can assess what really is bothering you, and your husband may relent on some changes, and you may have a better idea of a budget. In my own kitchen I did change the counters, subway tile backsplash and short apron Kohler Whitehaven farm sink. If I had lots of storage, I might want to remove some of the cabinets on the window wall and put in a larger window or replace the cabinet to the right of the sink with shelves or a plate rail cabinet. I admit mine is more for decor then use - but I love the look. A carpenter can rework that cabinet into a plate rail cabinet. That is not cheap but if I could do that in my kitchen I would, but it is too small. I would look into whether or not ordinary doors are available for the fridge. I would replace the OTR Microwave with a vented hood. I would put up a pretty roman shade. Here is my wood kitchens idea book. Maybe something will inspire. Madilee, I ordered from Chewy last week because we were running low on cat litter, and I also ordered enough to qualify for the 2 day shipping. Well, it's been almost a week and I still haven't gotten confirmation that it's being shipped. I tried to get it from Walmert-but they were out at my local store. Thought I'd try Amazon, but the only litter they had that my cats will use was not only more expensive than in the stores, but it also was about 10 days out. I had also ordered some canned cat food-they kind my cats prefer was out, so I had to get a 3rd choice. I ordered some baking soda for the cat boxes-since we can't empty them, just clean them out until we get more litter, and a case of strawberry jam, because I didn't feel like going to the grocery store. The canned food came within a day, the baking soda two days later-still no idea when the jam will arrive. Meanwhile hubby has PB & Honey sandwiches. I'd ordered a new desk chair since my old desk chair was not designed to be used for 8+ hours a day-oh my poor hind end! Amazon said it would arrive in 10 days (even though it was Prime) but it arrived 2 days later. I did order some outdoor toys for my grands through Walmart-a bounce house/ball pit, extra balls for the ball pit, and a covered sand table. They all said they'd deliver between 4/10 and 4/17. The balls showed up on Monday, and the sand table arrived yesterday. Still no idea when the ball pit will show up, I've not gotten a tracking # on that, but if I go back on the website it says if I order it to be delivered to the store it will be there in a week. I'm trying to be patient, I feel fortunate that I have the means to order things on line and I can pay a premium if necessary, but sometimes it does get frustrating. I'm unable to order normal groceries on line for either delivery or pick up. And Costco.com is sold out of almost everything I need. So I'm going to have to venture in to the store. But back to the OT, I have Prime and am ok with the delays. My Prime membership also includes free streaming, so that is worth it to us since DH is running out of shows on Netflix. Finally, GS-was it you who ran out of paper towels for pet messes? I purchased a couple dozen cheap bar towels for pet messes. We were going through a lot of paper towels when our cat with IBS was still alive, and it was my preference to do laundry rather than throw out so much paper. Costco often carries them, and in a pinch you can get them at Walmart as well. Check Amazon, too. I just ordered two dozen plain cloth reusable 'paper' towels off Etsy to use in my kitchen. I have a roll that are flannel & terry that are getting so worn out-we use them all the time.

Add a handfull of each to a loaf of that make one day and bake the next bread....the rye makes it have a sour dough flavor very quickly.

Um thanks barnmom but not one of your suggestions are eligible for the free shipping....are you not aware of how Amazon works? It can be painful! You have to look for the 'eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping on orders over $25' notation. You can always look at the right side of a product page and see if there is a shipping price next to the item price.

I am looking for something for myself, not a gift - boy do I have boxes of 'this will make a great gift stuff'

Linda you are on the right track with the baking items. You can select 'Free Super Saver Shipping' on the left side to weed out the items that require extra shipping. I was looking for cornstarch but didn't find any - just baby powder.

Anyone else?

Could you use some parchement rounds? Only $5.49 for 24 9" rounds. Eligible. Other parchement paper stuff that's a bit more. Some are eligible, some not.

What, Jessica, you couldn't find anything new for your "tool box"? (grin) I see there's some strawberry flavored stuff that's eligible for Free Shipping, if it's strawberry flavored it's food related, right?

There are some kitchen composters, but they're more than $4.51. You could make compost for your garden, though. There are some nice stainless steel oil cans available and I see there's some Fleur de Sel if you need salt.

Oh, wait, you could get canning stuff. I see the plastic lids for storing home canned goodies in the refrigerator, and they have nice funnels and a corn cutter and a cherry pitter.....

I just got the Olympus Stylus 1010 digital camera for $179 -- that would probably get you over that $4.51. It's a great little camera and you if you need to make this purchase food related, well, just take some pictures of next week's dinner and post them on here!

This will bump you $12 or so more than you need, but knowing your fondness for opera, take a listen to this.

Yes, Pavarotti was the greatest and Domingo and Carreras are wonderful as well; but when I want to listen to how lovely the tenor voice can be, I pull our my Wunderlich LPs and CDs.

One cut on disc 2, 'Komm, O Holde Dame' from an opera by Boieldieu, is alone worth the price of the CD. Mozart's 'Il Mio Tesoro' is here sung in German; and a tribute to Wunderlich's mastery is that he even makes German sound lovely. His recording of 'Ach so Fromm' from Flotow's Martha is wonderful as well, although I wish that they had included the Mitternacht quartet from that opera as well.

Dktrahan, if you are going to buy a potato ricer, don't get that one. Get the angled model, French style Potato Ricer. Much better model. The angle makes it easier to squeeze. Takes less strength. I couldn't live without my potato ricer.

I noticed these on the link for the silicone poachers. I have these little bowls to use for prep and I love them. They are especially handy when making a dish with a lot of seasonings, so much easier to measure everything out ahead of time so the counter isn't cluttered.

I love these little things. It's jar opener that resembles a bottle opener. You use it to break the seal and the lid comes right off. You'd have to buy two though. Maybe you can give one to a friend.

Our internet is down! Oh the horror, the horror. Borrowing DH's desk at work until I get kicked out. It may be days until we are up again (phone company issues) so please accept my apologies for neglect.

The parchment rounds are looking good, as is the dulce de leche. And one can always use another spatula, or Oxo tongs.

I like the style you linked because I can rest it across the pot/bowl and I don't find it difficult to squeeze. DARFC from Ann. Deee, I have those jar pops and extras too, I give them away as gifts to my friends - we're all starting to need them. jcrowley99, now you have me looking for (and needing) 'scoop' measuring cups. I can't fit my round ones in my narrow flour tupperware containers. Next order or ebay, I can't justify $20 for a set of scoops.

Arley, I was listening to Fritz Wunderlich, Dalla Sua Pace, on our Rhapsody music subscription when our net went down. Arrrgh. I do sing Il Mio Tesoro around the house, much to the consternation of my kids, heh heh. We can never get enough Don Giovanni. He does have a beautiful voice. We get everything now on Rhapsody; I'm not sure about O Holde Dame, I'll check when we are back up. Maybe Youtube will have a clip! I don't know if you checked back on the 'Bucket List' thread on Conversations - we just started the Ring cycle at LA Opera. I'm stoked!
