Can you whitewash solid Brazilian cherry floors?
Comments (8)It will be difficult to say what you will end up with. The video shows product that have been recently done. I don't know if anyone tried putting those samples in direct sunlight for 3 months to see if the bleached wood turns dark(er) again. As well, it will depend on your B. Cherry. Is it the flaming orange/red version or is it the pink/purple colour? I would guess the 'pinker' it looks today, the pinker it will look tomorrow. How do you feel about the water based finish verses the oil based finish? The water base is a step lighter than the oil based...which might be just enough to reduce the feeling of 'dark'....See MoreMatching Brazilian Cherry Floors - Sanding and Staining
Comments (6)Hi Moneymm, Unfortunately you'll never get them to look EXACTLY the same unless you're salvaging wood that's about the same age as what you already have. You can get pretty darn close though. If you're worried and don't want to have the new wood feathered in (costly and difficult), you could have a piece of the new floor installed 90 degrees across the threshold to wherever the new space is, so that any difference in color or wood grain is not noticeable between rooms....See MoreGray paint with Brazilian cherry flooring?
Comments (1)We have Brazilian cherry that is 22 years old . We use bona Chemi traffic to finish at that time. We are finally refinishing.. after four sons and 4 dogs it still looks great. As I said it has never been really red. In fact, I was disappointed, at that time, back in the day, they never turned really red. It was probably due to the fact that I used a water borne sealer. It is wonderful for a house full of kids and dogs and held up much better than my friends oak and maple. I can't wait to see it refinished and know that it will be a slight reddish brown. Hope whoever we sell too loves it!...See MoreBrazilian Cherry floors
Comments (2)Brazilian Cherry will always look like what it is. You might get a lighter pink instead of a brighter red, but it's never going to be anywhere close to white oak. Your best bet is to decorate to minimize the floor colour. For example, don't paint your walls green because it will make your floors look redder....See Morejustme4now
