Vacuum Cleaner for Hardwood Floors
Comments (9)I can personally recommend the Miele Olympus Canister Vacuum. I did A LOT of research and finally decided on this vacuum and I'm so happy with it. It's not loud like the others I looked at, it has many suction options, works fantastic on wood floors, tile and large area rugs. Another great thing is that it is light only 13lbs, easy to maneuver and it cleans SO WELL, you will not be disappointed with this vacuum. Miele is a German company that has been tried and true. Comments (13)Oooh! I've been trying to find a good hard floor vacuum for years and I've finally found one! I use the healthy home by bisell and you can turn off the rolling brush for hard floors so it doesn't scratch or kick around bigger pieces of dirt or small objects! It has nice big rubber wheels on it that won't scratch (especially pergo/laminate) floors. I had a home in Cali with dark walnut colored pergo flooring and my old vacuum ganged up with a little rock one day and made a long scratch right by the doorway. Not even furniture pens or polish was absorbed to hide it. Really sad when that happened. So I was determined never to vacuum a hardwood floor again after that. Until now. I love this vacuum and it has all the attachments with a hand held rotating brush handle (great for pet hair on furniture and the car-golden retrievers grow 10 new hairs for every 1 they shed). I'm also obsessed with having a clean vacuum so I can literally take apart the canister and wash it! After every use, I go out to the garage and vacuum my vacuum with the shopvac! It's a bit on the pricey side and it comes with some chemicals for dust mites and germs but I would never use or recommend using chemicals in the home or out. I do however, clean my carpets about every other month with an organic cleaner that kills germs and has a light scent. Carpet cleaners are full of very harmful chemicals and I have two asthmatics at home and a lovely dog(remember the hairy beast I mentioned?) So this works great. I love having a clean house. It's one of my favorite pastimes! That's my story and I'm sticking to it! JoAnn...See MoreGreat little vacuum for hardwood - finally found one
Comments (6)I lucked up and found this little vacuume in my local craiglist. The vacuume was brand new and I purchased it for 45.00 which was a great deal. Because it only weighs 5 lbs its perfect, great suction and easy to carry since it has a strap to go over your shoulder. Comes with all the attachments and since I have wool rugs that constanly shed on my hardwoods, this is the best thing for me. I really love it and I am thinking about buying another for my Boat/Car. Comments (18)Central vac is the best, used with the hard floor tool of course (no wheels, no rotating brush, just soft bristles.) Swiffer sweeper does not have wheels. I have four of them that I keep plugged in, and that way no matter if it runs out of juice. I go over the floor sometimes afterwards with a moistened Quickie cotton mop (with removeable head htat can be washed in the machine). If someone is really a stickler about not using swiffer pads, is it possible to put a washable pad on there instead? -- a microfibre cloth? I currently have low end Miele. It works great on carpets with its rotating brush, but IMO the bare floor tool stinks. I'm also ticked that they made it a different size than normal USA attachments, so you're also stuck with their small brush, which also is not good. Either that, or use the attachment which allows you to go to the other size. Except this (a) keeps falling off, and (b) makes the transition between hose end and brush too long. I really miss my central vac, and that 30 foot hose is not hard once you learn how to handle it. Always sweep AHEAD of yourself, so you're not dragging dirt around with the hose, and you'll be just fine, no need to carry it....See Morebrucerussell
