Macman is right, the problem with peaches is how picky they are on temps to callous. They are much harder than plums or cherries and somewhat harder than 'cots. The type of graft doesn't matter based on my experience. Aluminum foil can be helpful since when the sun is shining on the wood it will keep the temps from getting too high (unless its a cold day, in which case you want the warmth and so don't want the foil on). Chip buds should be put on the north side of peaches in warm weather to minimize direct sun exposure. To succeed, always check the weather and look for highs in the low 80s and lows in the 50's for the next several days ahead; if thats not the weather wait for it. I usually do two rounds of peach grafting in two different periods due to the variability of the weather. Also do plenty of backups since peaches fail with a much greater rate than other grafts. I have had success rates in the last few years vary from 30% to 90%. Scott

I set out 15 blueberry plants about 5-6 years ago in the same bed. The bed is in full fun, from north to south, two rows of 7 and 8 plants. The bed has a gentle slop from south to north. The spacing is 4.5' between plants and 5' between rows. When I planted them, I mixed with 50% peat moss and 50% existing soil. I did not put on any sulfur. I have not tested the PH for a long time. I mulched the bed with about 1"-2" of composted wood chips. The 5 plants in the south size (the high ground) did really well and they are about 5' tall, putting out good berries for at least 3 years. But two plants died, one Rubel and one Elliot. At first, I thought drainage is to blame since the plants in high ground did extremely well. But the Northland and Brigitta are in the middle of the rows. The Polaris is the 2nd plant from the south and it has not grown much at all. The bed is not water clogged. So I decided to replant the slow growing ones to another location. When I replanted them today, I mixed with 50/50 peat moss/soil and add 1-2 cups of sulfur and a cup of bone meal in each hole. I hope this will somehow make the PH lower and make the plants happier.

parma42, thanks for the Blonde chuckle! Those furniture sites are addicting too.. I spend so much time there! I like the one you posted a link to as well, but now (I am such a nut) think I found another... and after really studying the space and playing with photoshop, I decided the bombe chest #3 is too bulky for the area, so I am ruling that out. My list is shrinking and once again think Les is correct on her thoughts. So, I found this one that is a console - but is a chest too. The size is right, color seems to compliment floors and other furniture.. not sure if the 'style' really flows with the other wood pieces (bTW - I don't like the dining room furniture. It is new - but darker and plainer then I would have picked for this home). Here is my newest find, which is similar to kmcg85 posted. I like the bottom shelf, and that it is also open, but yet has storage. It's simple, yet my dining toom furniture is very plain and simple.

if you do decide wainscoting, look into MDF or PVC options to mimic the look in a more waterproof way than wood. since it sounds like its going to be a built in tub, the surround shouldn't be particularly big, and doesn't go to the floor, I vote tile.
