Can I do tile over basement concrete?

"Well, I guess you could do most ANYTHING you want if you have enough money." Just thought I would say it before someone else did. HA! Anyway, I was going to tile the bottom level of my two story lake cottage. The flooring down there is concrete that was originally an outdoor porch...it is enclosed now. The concrete is pretty uneven and slopes off a bit. Sounds like alot of prep work, huh? And do you seal it, or put a subfloor on it, or just slap the tile right down on it? I want to use a 12" tile. Maybe tile is not the best idea...oh, and I'm about out of that "enough money" thing.

Thanks for any thoughts as I know this is a bit of a "duh" question to you experts...but not to me.
